Oh morning Jaye, I can't wait to hear all about the goodies you got yesterday.
Jaye,
Thank you for my hat ^-^ I may not be on much between now and the holidays as I get more depressed as it gets closer... Just me...LOL When I miss the people I have lost most in my life... Sorry I am a downer but hey is part of me...
Huggers,
Susan
PS. I added to my profile that I get depressed every so often...LOL
Turtle, I am sorry that you are sad, but I understand it. I hope that at some point, rather than making you sad, the love you've held for people close to you will bring you comfort more than pain. Big hugs to you...
Brenda
Oh tomorrow is always a new day and comfort should come... I have to let it and want it... I don't like being this way at the holidays so tomorrow I am going to be happy you will see... My Mom brings me confort everyday.... I am blessed to have two "Moms" MIL lives here and at times drives me nuts but she is the best second mom a person could have...Once in awhile you get two and I was blessed with both... Just allot going on... MIL sister died about 3 weeks ago then her twin had a heart attach then Mary has not been feeling well and I really though with the one going and the other one very sick Mary was going to crazy and that hurts me ... Mary did finally find out what most of her problems are coming from she has Lupis... and a new doc to help us.... I may go see him myself... I am already feeling better as I type... I can't sleep but I will in a few....Thank you Brenda for caring.... Love you all so much...

ok, Here goes:
Colors; blues, any kind but especially deep blues like indigo and cobalt, purples, greens
Flowers, colorful and scented - everything except paperwhites. During the summer I even have a poison garden of Datura, Caster bean and Brugmansias. Inside I have quite a few Christmas cactus and epiphyllum, an orange and a lemon tree, a miracle berry tree, green and purple shamrocks, assorted cacti, Brugs that won't go dormant, a couple of AV's that are dying and 5 babied Plumerias that I hope to see bloom one day. Oh yes, I also have a carrion flower that luckily has never bloomed.
My fav's outside are roses, lily of the valley, Brugmansias, Peonies, Lilacs and German Bearded Irises. The deer also like my roses, as do the groundhogs.
I like any kind of food except fish - I only eat cod and flounder and they have to be fried.
Not real fond of Indian or Thailand foods but I can and do cook Chinese, Italian and French, along with a great steak. I love sweets, especially NY Cheesecake and chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing.
I dont really collect any one thing but I am partial to Bells, windchimes, Gnomes and Dragonflies.
I love to read mysteries, biographies, autobiographies and SciFi fantasy. My favorite author is Jim Butcher - "The Dresden Files"
I have probably over a hundred pets: 1 cat, Buji and one dog, Bob and many pet redworms that produce fertilzer for my garden. The worms live in a bin in my laundry room and they smell better than the dog and cat, single or combined.
Well, there you go, me in a nutshell!
Terri
I have been known to sew, also to quilt and I can be crafty if I have the energy. I used to crochet but am finding it hard to do in the past few years.
I'm easy.. I like critters of any kind. Ladybugs, mice etc. I love handsewn, useful items since sewing isn't one of those things I do very well. I would cherish anything handmade that you could send me. Let's support the economy of the folks in this country by buying goods made in the USA. Most of my swap items that I send will be handmade, one of a kind items that I hope you will like.

I'm flighty. Changing my mind as often as I change my panties. With each season comes a new hobby, never doing something long enough to become a master. Just a Jack of All Trades and a Master at none.
Things that I have continued to stick with and of interest is photography (Fall/Winter), gardening (Spring/Summer/Fall), canning (Summer/Fall), painting (Anytime), playing games on MSN online (Anytime), daughters Softball (Summer), Watching Movies (Anytime) Volunteering in the community (All the time) and my constant day dreams of inventions and business owning.
I hate laundry, cooking and cleaning but do it for the family. It's something that never ends and I don't get a break. Sundays are my deep cleaning days for preparation for the up coming week. I believe in God but don't go to Church right now. Maybe in the future.
I'm Misses Tight Wad and I'm always out looking for a great deal. My favorite store is a Thrift Store in a little town close to me. I find name brand, excellent shape shoes, purses, and clothing for an insanely low price. (Example: Brand new pair of Levi's for me $0.75 before tax.) I do it because I love bragging about the low prices and seeing peoples faces as I show off my great find.
I like all the home decoration at Hobby Lobby. My decor style is pretty nutural and updated. Nothing poppy. Colors are pretty mute. Earth tones and rich dark colors are my favs. I love most flowers, and can't think of any right now that I absolutely despise. Flavors and Smells? Well, I'm prevy to the Leather smell but will burn any candle flavor.
I don't eat sugar or artificial sweetner. I'm hypoglycemic. I keep my diet well balanced including a lot of fresh fruits and vegs, very small amount of whole wheat bread and low fat meats. I only drink water all day, every day. And no, I'm not skinny. Average built. I do have a very nasty habit of smoking but it's hard to quit and so far it has beaten me everytime.
Since starting school I have moved away from frequently doing the things I love most. However, going to school is a hobby that I love as well. Just so darn demanding. My major is Web Management with an emphasis in Graphics Design. My ultimate goal in life is to retire having successfully complete all my life goals (what ever they may be) and feeling that my life made a positive impact on others.
Check out my Daves Garden Journal to learn more about me. http://davesgarden.com/members/lratliff29/
Do you collect anything? Various picture frames of interest. My main goal is to collect a large variety of plants for my garden. I do love collecting Harley Davidson shirts for my husband. My goal is to get one from everywhere. :)
Are you allergic to anything? I don't eat sugars or simple carbs.
Favorite Color/scent? Green, Leather
Favorite Music? I like modern Country, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, and really love Nickelback.
Favorite flower? I really don't have a FAVORITE per say, but I tend to lean towards Oriental Lilies. I'm not much into Tropicals or houseplants.
Favorite store? Second Hand Clothing Store in a small town close to me.
Favorite food? Steak/seafood/Chicken Salad/Apple and Peanut Butter, Sugar Free Dark Chocolates that are 70% dark.
Dislikes? I'm in a good mood right now, so I can't think of anything. 3/25/09 Now that I'm thinking about, People who throw rocks and live in a glass house. I'm not in such a good mood right now.
Pets? 2 dogs, one is 8-lab,brittany mixed, and a rescued Boxer who is 7.
Hobbies? School, Photography, Gardening, Painting, Clay work, and I'm constantly playing with the idea of one day owning a business or designing a product. My brain keeps churning.
Personal? I am married of 18 years June 2009. My son is 20, engaged to marry Sept 19, 09 and move out this summer. My daughter will be 16 this May, and she keeps me hoppin' with her church and school activities.
Size: If you are interested in purchasing clothing items, I can wear a size large tshirts and 12-14 size britches, 9.5 size shoes..

OMG where would I even start...
From the beginning I would imagine...
Raised by my grandparents from the age of 6 months old while my parents during depression worked on lakefreighters, when they returned home I didn't want to leave and my grandparents didn't want to see me go, so after a zillion tries, I remained with my grandparents and spoilt like crazy by my parents..have sibblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister however my grandparents still had children in the household so would say they are more like my sibblings as I grew up with them...
Married young - age 17, had my children at 21..celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary and 2 weeks later on New years day my DH passed away...
Life goes on...
During my working career I was the 3rd person hired by American Express Space Bank here in Canada, did a lot of travel with Amex and moved up the executive ladder quickly, but with 2 young children and a husband choices had to be made...
We then moved north to cottage country and built a home on the lake..after being a volunteer for almost an entire year in the newly opened community center..starting and organizing functions and programs the municipality decided because of it's growing district, 18 cottage associations, 45 miles between south and northern parts of the district that they needed a Recreation Co-ordinator and as I was doing such a great job, hey, it was ME! During this time I also helped out a local bus line doing a run to the beautiful Honey harbour area daily temporarily as they were finding a driver...well it took until I gave in my notice 16 years later to do so..in between I did workshops, look after a family, helped DH with his business so never a dull moment..always something to do and learn..
Truly enjoyed my work, made my priority in planning with senior programming in mind...at 50 I tool an early retirement based on an open retirement window they had... couldn't stay quiet then so volunteered locally and did decorative painting classes from home...
Four years ago I found myself purchasing an older run down home, not many would have taken it on but I could see potential, it was near my eldest son and his family and friends...had all the components...back entrance to a large area I could make into a studio...
3 years ago my BIL who had a Toronto based business in Bankruptcy asked if I could help him out for a month or so until he found a replacement.. 3 years later here I am, still working with SIL Suzanne and 2 nieces... for 3 years travelled 100 miles each way each day to work, not fun...as of Christmas I'm now in Barrie - 45 minute drive in, think I've died and gone to heaven...
Guess I haven't answered my likes/dislikes as yet so better start...
With growing up with grandma and being around adults all the time as there were no younger children for me to play with, I was no older than 7 when I'd be asked to join the quilting b's..remember them, group of women would get together early morning and by nighttime quilt was finished being quilted, next week off to someone else's house...so I was sewing and crafting at a very early age...as I would visit Aunts and Uncles over the summer season I'd leart knitting/crochet and the men would teach me woodworking..from there on, my interests just increased.. One Uncle and Aunt owned a ceramic studio so didn't take me long I was pouring molds, firing and painting..
As years progressed I got into knitting big time, have 3 knitting machines, one is completely computerized and I can program it with a design and it actualy knits on it's own..with sewing I purchased a Janome9000 which also embroiders..do enjoy it...
I still teach stained glass, decorative painting in all mediums, paper tole and offer many 1 day make and take workshops throughout the year..in fact we had our DG 2nd Annual on-line Victorian Santa workshop this past November/December (many of you participated) ...
I'm still active in the teaching field, home projects and resting 'sometimes'
I'll try anything, I've faux rocked my entire basement floor, I've drywalled and finished the drywall in the basement, made cupboards, do woodworking, just did ceramic tile in kitchen and washroom, made faux fireplaces in the rooms so that they are cozy, faux headboards...on and on and on... just love to paint on furniture...love woodworking (have more tools and equipment than most men could hope to have)..busy in the birdhouse making and painting...just never stop...that's my life, in competition with the energizing bunny to see who will win out...
My love is gardening..when I moved to the house I doubt I could have counted 5 flowers, now my gardens are beautiful, flower beds throughout mostly perrenials, many art pieces within to get a passerby's attention..this past fall I started to work on a DG friendhsip garden with mileage posts, birdhouse trail, sitting area and creating a metal shed into a country style appearance as to enhance the friendship garden setting... shed has faux painted pieces to add to it's beauty...especially love my secret garden which is very inviting, hidden inside lilac bushes , a table and chair set and service cupboard await you while hanging candle chandelier invites you to sit and rest..... can't wait for the snow to leave so I can once again create in this beautiful yard...
One sunny day, with music blarring I decided I wanted a pond, I dug and dug manually, shovel in hand until I had a 5' deep and about 16 to 18' in width area..the next day came the liner! For months I would pick up rocks along the roadway as I travelled from work to give my pond a natural look..it now is surrounded by flowers and shrubs...a favorite place for someone to sit enjoy the water sounds...nothing like listening to a waterfall ...
I've made a little cafe room off the back deck, oh so pretty...now you ask what with all these sitting areas do I prefer to sit???? Sorry, no time for sitting...always on the move..lol
So again what do I like, absolutely everything and anything..more so if it's homemade...

What is your name and have you checked out my fave-Nene Thomas??
Where abouts in Cal does your daughter live???
Her name is Shelly. I was wondering how long it was going to take you to read her post! She has a lot in common with your likes! Mine too!
Shelly, do you have any tattoo's?
LK
well, Shelly needs to pop in and tell us more!!
Sorry I haven't been in. I had to work. I usually get online between 10am & 2pm and then again between midnight and 3 or 4 am. I work mostly nights. In answer to your questions...
1. As you have been informed. The name is Shelly
2. I love Nene Thomas fairies
3. My daughter, Samantha, lives in San Jose, California
4. I do not have any tatoos. Deathly afraid of needles.
Stacey, your room just keeps getting prettier and prettier!
LK
Shucks, LK-thanks-I need to get the lamp shade and side table done-I have a new purple lamp shade and some stuff to decorate it with and I need to pain the stand black-have a new piece of hardware for it too:)
It is hard to see what is on the lamp sahde, but it would be really pretty, if you have extra fabric from the comforter to cover the shade to match.
Just my opinion.
LK
Nothin like that, the comforter is plain black. The shade is the same shade of purple as the walls and I have some black and silver stuff to go on it:) THe existing shade is paper covered w/ dried flowers
Fairy101 your fairy room is much prettier than mine. Mine is a work in progress. I will be going to my river house tomorrow and will take a few better pictures then. The walls in my room are actually white but I have pink sheer curtains with black sheers on the outside so the pink hugh to the walls is caused by the sunlight coming in. I see that we have some of the same pictures on the wall too.
Your rooms are very nice... I like how you put your touches to them... Can anyone tell me where you buy Knomes? spelling sorry... I would like a few for my yard...
Hugs,
Susan

Joanne's also has them.
