Sorry you couldn't go to the dentist Gail. Darn those awful shingles!!!! The scone's were a hit. Marjorie took a few home. I told her to warm them up. SO good warm.
We had a really nice time. Here is the gift I took. The cage is a really nice size. I put a small poinsetta in it and ribbons and a cardinal on top. The pic. looks funny, I took it from the top a bit, the head on pics hid the flower. My drawing gift was a chimera. I forget the name. Too tired to look right now, ha. Bed time.

December Blooms
You have a blooming Tiny Wood Trail! I'm jealous! Mine is a huge (ok, 2-3") mound, but no blooms!
One think I have been thinking about regarding pictures . . . I do believe there is a photography forum, or something to do with cameras . . . I'm thinking of posting something there - maybe someone will know how or what setting to use . . .
Try on e more thing.............maybe your flash just won't allow natural colors to come through. Take your plants in soft natural light where the flash won't come on and see what happens........even if you have to go outside........
There may be a button where you can turn off the flash too--
There is a button on mine to turn off the flash. But the pix still turn out shiney - like the one I posted this morning. When I try to block the light from the stand, the pic turns out too dark. I think I'll do like what Gail suggested in the morning - take a plant outside, and see how that goes. (it'll be dark by the time I get home!)
I have the same trouble taking pictures. There always seems to be a glare. Sometimes when I turn off the lights on the plant stand they come out good (camera flash working) but most of the time I get the glare unless I am outside in natural light. I keep saying that I need to take a class in photography but my ole brain doesn't retain things for more than five minutes anyway ... unless I write things down step by step I always forget!
If you're anything like me, then you'd probably forget where you put what you wrote down!
Good job Hillbilly_Gran ... yes, I agree that the background makes a big difference in shooting blooms! I've notice a few folks use a black background that really makes the plants "Pop".
That sure is a pretty Strep!
Thank you Lin-- that is my first ever strep bloom(papermoon)-- a gift from Gail--It is still blooming-- now I know what the fuss is about--got to get more--got to get more LOL
I take terrible pictures, but I did learn something this summer. If your battery is worn out and does not hold a charge for a long time, the colors will not come out right, even if it's fresh off the charger.I replaced the battery and all is well.
Lynn
Don't bother googling this--dead end, and Rob doesn't have it anymore...I'm looking for Rob's Copper Cat. First saw it about a year ago and have been wanting it ever since. The person who had it back then is no longer a resource in my search. So far, haven't found a vendor that has it. Oh...it's a semi or mini AV. I love the colors.
Never mind--Finally found it! Yaay!

I still have a Streptocarpella blooming as well as a micro mini sinningia pusilla (on left) and micro mini sinn. Rio das pedras (on right.)
Oh, and GoldLeaf ... the pretty Angel on the left is the one you gave me! I love her ... and found that I had a very similar one from one of my sisters on another plant stand in the bedroom. I put them together. They are almost identical except the one you sent has so much more detail in her wings! I love angel's and she is a nice addition to my small collection!
Very nice!! The Angels really complement one another!!
never heard of these before, real pretty what family are they in
Pings are butterworts...
I think they are really cool!
Those are cute--what does the foilage look like?
I've been a 'busy bee' reading all the posts and pictures that I missed when I was away.
Everyone's blooms are just beautiful. It makes me want all of them. I have my strep seedlings still kind of tiny. I can't wait for them to get larger so I can pot them in separate pots. I didn't realize that the seeds were so small, and they all went into one pot. There must be close to 50 little plants, still almost microscopic. Hopefully in the spring I'll have some ready to trade. I also have violet leaves pushing up babies.
Hurry up Spring. I need more gessies!
Hillbilly_Gran...
That is the foliage. The blooms of butterworts actually resemble gessie blooms.
Below is an example of a bloom... courtesy of the internet.

Pretty! It does resemble a strep bloom! Is it indoor or outdoor? A terrarium plant maybe?
Ohhhhh! Butterwort! This has been on my Logees wish list for ages

It's my favorite carnivore! LOL

I love that orange zinger for sure!!
Is S. amizade really difficult to grow? It has been on my wish list since I saw it irl last fall, but I am not currently up to a huge challenge. Every time I see it posted by a private grower, it seems to be with a comment that indicates it is fussy. Pretty plants Gran^_^
It can't be TOO fussy-- or I would have killed it by now.The foilage looks to me like it is not real happy-- but it is blooming and no longer dropping buds. Mrsbonnie will have to weigh in on this-- I only have 3 sinningias--the 2 you saw and 1 dormant tuber.
Yes Phoebe... they do best in the terrarium. They are small and like alot of humidity.
All your pictures are so beautiful, you guys. I just want to go home and play with my plants rather than work!
I don't have any pictures to share, although I have one bloom on Pegasus right now. I guess I'll have to start some leaves so I can get in on the trades in the spring!
Sarah
good bye my friends (lol)
Great pics Gail!! Good to see ya on here!!
