I live in zone 9B and have some cabbage planted that should be mature by now. I still have BIG plants but no heads. What did I do wrong?
No Heads on my cabbage
Probably just need patience. Plants slow down drastically with short days. Takes much longer for winter grown vegetables to make than spring grown. Cultivar is also important, long season cabbage can take 4-5 months as opposed to 2-3 months for early cabbage.
Last month I repotted 2 of last years Bonnie 50 lb. Cabbages that refused 2 die. They are just now taking off and are forming heads. At the present rate I might have cabbages sometime near late March.
