New California Vegetable Garden

Oakland, CA

I'm just starting my first vegetable garden in the Bay Area. I have 2 small plots in my backyard, one that about 5 x 3 ft. and gets about 5 hours of direct sun per day and another that's 6 x 2 ft and gets more like 7 or 8 hours of sun

Any suggestions as to shich vegetables I can plant at this time of year? I've been told that lettuce is good, but is it worth it to plant lettuce on such a small plot? Is broccoli any different?

It's always worth growing lettuce. A fast crop and tender and delicious. What's your Zone?

Every state has a vegetable planting guide probably from one of your famous universities. Florida has a wonderful one. I would google it. It Should tell you every vegetable that you can plant and when.

Thank You! Any advice on which of the following veggies can grow with 5 hours or less of sunlight per day?

Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery, Onions, Carrots, Radishes, Spinach

I'm no expert here, but they will all grow, but smaller with less or smaller fruit I think. I hope some expert chimes in here to help.
