Will planting this invasive jasmine make the wooden bolted retaining wall fall down or will it reinforce it?
Should I plant this inside wall or below it or not at all?
Thanks so much!!!!!!!
Planting pink jasmine on or below a wooden retaining wall
I like pink jasmine but didn't want it to take over my yard so I have it in a very large pot with a trellis. It's real healthy and bloomed three times this summer. I keep it pruned to maintain the size I want. Maybe you could just set a large pot of it by your fence? But, if you choose to do that, I'd put a saucer (not plastic though) under it to keep roots from escaping.
It won't climb on its own on a surface like that, so I don't think it'll do anything besides flop down beside the wall unless you put up a trellis or something for it to climb. If you build a sturdy trellis for it to climb that could help temporarily at least reinforce your wall, but the vine itself isn't going to do much.
