PERTH, Australia

GP, the Grackles are superb looking birds. Love the Osprey shot from the previous thread. Has it officially become the state bird yet?

Thanks for the link, Rose. The change to Osprey from Mockingbird will happen after the legislature passes the bill, maybe sometime next year.

Marlton, NJ

Very nice pics GP! Thanks for starting the new thread!

Nice action shot Margaret!

Wish I had some new pics to add but we're having so much rain or dark skies theres no chance for photos.

Same here pelle. So getting any pics are a challenge.

Sooo many White-throated Sparrows. They are popping out of every corner!

Nice ones nanny! I've been seeing much higher numbers of Goldfinch at the feeders.

Marlton, NJ

In reading the NJ listserv they've been reporting lots of Cave Swallows down
Cape May the last several weeks. Thats quite far from where they should be normally.

I had such hopes ...another Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Very overcast and raining

First pic of a Pine Sisken this year.

We finally had a bit of sun today on for about 30 seconds at a time. Very high wind gusts which made it challenging to keep things in focus since branches and feeders were swaying all over the place.

Two American Goldfinch at the birdbath together. There are so many around now.

An interesting thing that happened while I was out there. Two Coopers Hawks barrelled into the yard at the same moment going after the birds but came up empty handed thank goodness. Thats the first time I've ever seen 2 working together like that in my yard.I knew they were close by as none of the larger birds would make an appearance till much later.

It's pouring rain here now and we're under a tornado warning as are parts of Pa. and Delaware.

Pelle: Wonderful shots! Love the Pine Siskin.
GP: Grackles - very dramatic birds. :)
Nanny: Enoyed your Downy and RedBelly drama.

Warning, this is an awful and only partial photo of what I think is a Black and White Warbler. If so, it's a first for me.
Darn thing would not pause from running and hopping up and down the branches, which is what makes me think
it is a B&WW. Sadly, this is the best photo I could eke out. Possible to confirm the I.D.?

Best of luck Deb! I don't know warblers at all.

Pelle, lovely siskin. I can't believe how pointy their beaks are. Also love that fluffy butt pix!

Rose and Nanny, keep up the good work!

Yep, B&W Warbler

Cool! Thanks, Resin. :)

Congrats Deb! They are so cool looking.

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

I just started seeing Goldfinches today but not at my feeders. They were all in some bushes growing along the bank of a small creek near my home.

I'm also getting a lot of White-throated Sparrows now. Here a pic showing an interesting angle of the top of a WT sparrow's head

Here's a group shot of a WT Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco and some Cardinals. The cold wind appears to be blowing the winter birds in

So that's where they all went!!! Great photos from everyone. Congrat on your warbler Deb.
Cool shot on the orangy finch Pelle.
Don't have much left here. Still waiting for the Redpolls. I have a few Goldfinches but the number has gone down. I'm getting more Chickadees, and Blue Jays. Haven't seen the Juncos for a good 2 weeks. The Hairy and Downy are regulars.
Here one of the Chickadee

Burn, do you get redpolls every year? I know that last year was extraordinary, so I'm wondering if I'll even see any.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Deb, you got a better shot of your B&W Warbler than I did of mine...Congrats!!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Yes Mrs-Ed, my yard is always full of Common Redpolls in the winter time. The unusual ones are the Hoary Redpolls. Those are the one, I'm anxious to see if I'll get them this year. I'll probably have to train my eyes all over again. :) It's even hard for Resin to tell them apart ;0))

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

My variety of birdies seem to have left. So I've been venturing to the local parks to get my fix. I may have to go to my historical files to get new pics to post. Here are my contributions - Mocking birds. As always love to see the variety of birds from all areas of the country - just wish I could see them personally.

Thanks for the different flavors.
