LOL .. y'all are a hoot!
Phoeb: Yep, I am really 60 (closer to 61) and my body feels it sometimes! Well, actually to be truthful sometimes my body feels about 90! But, I feel very blessed! I have never been in a hospital except as a visitor, don't get sick very often so rarely have to take any medication than advil for the occasional arthritis. My sister who is 9 mos 3 weeks older than me has had some health issues the past couple of years, I have a sister 1 1/2 years younger than me who has some major health problems and my baby sister (the youngest) who is only 52, just had one partial knee replacement and is having the other total knee replacement done in January. She has played tennis for years and her knees were shot a couple of years ago ... so, me I say Thank You Lord for my health! I don't think I would be a good patient, I'd be very cranky, crotchity and old ladyish! LOL. Aging is a fact of life and I try my darndest to do it gracefully but ummm ... must admit, that's hard cause I am a Klutz by nature!
Gail: You would never need botox! I have seen photo's of you with that Beautiful face! Your skin is Awesome, looks like peaches and cream!
Nan: I don't know what last photo you saw of me. There's one on my home page that was taken last Christmas. My hair may be a little longer now. There used to be one posted that my DH took of me working out amidst my plants on the deck ... but I think in that one I had my hair in a pony tail and my baseball cap on.
Heading out to eat ... chat with y'all later!
Nov.Bingo calls and chat #2
Lin, please believe me when I say the word 'makeup'....................I don't wear it at home but I do when I am out and about................lol
Trust me when I say my skin looks like I am older than 66................we used to use baby oil and bake in the sun, too.......didn't know better (but I probably would have done it anyway)
From one klutz to another....I have to tell you, yesterday I was so frustrated! It was one of those days I dropped everything I touched, and tripped I don't know how many times! One of the thrills that came with getting older for me. I drop violets all the time--call it" drop therapy" They get scared and bloom porfusely if dropped appropriately^_^
As a nurse, I can tell you most of my patients are cranky and crotchety, at least some of the time, and with good reason. I'm glad you appreciate your good health, it's right up there at the top of the quality of life list.
I so admire and respect Nurses for the jobs you all do! I truly think there's a special place in heaven for nurses! During the last couple of years my dear mom and dear mother in law were still living, I came into contact with quite a few nurses. There was only one time with one nurse who was not very empathetic or compassionate. The first time I thought maybe she was just having a bad day, realizing we all have those %*&@% days sometimes, don't we? And, we're all allowed to have such days sometimes. But after many days of coming into contact with her I realized she just was not a happy person and apparently didn't really like her job, or was just burnt out. I know I could not work around patients day in and day out. I'm sure you get many great patients who are not very demanding but I know you also probably get more than your share of the cranky and crotchety ones too. I'm not sure how I would rate as a patient in a hospital situation. I have always been the type that wants to be left alone when I'm sick and not feeling up to par. If I had to be poked and prodded and twisted and turned I know I probably wouldn't be pleasant to be around! LOL.
Bouquets to you and all Nursing Professionals!
Isn't that the truth, Lin.....................kudos to you for thanking them.............
I lost my parents and we had round the clock nursing trained people with them...........who truly loved and cared for them..........gave my brother and everyone who loved them peace and comfort that we could sleep.
Hi,todays call is
18. Strep Hisayo
http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/tableh.html
I can't wait till some of these awesome streps from Japan start coming round!
Lin! Love the hat! How special that it was yout mom's!
Love the smile too!
Good Morning ladies! Oh, today's call 'Falling Snow' really is lovely! I am thinking of maybe in Spring trying a trailer or two.
LOL, none of that white stuff falling here Jan ... but it was Cold here last night, 47 was our low! Very unusual for us this time of year and the next week is going to be so weird ... daytime lows only in the 60's and lows in the low to mid 40's. Brrrr! We had a high Saturday of 86 and then Sunday only 66. Very out of the ordinary. Our normal highs for November are upper 70's daytime and upper 50's at night! I guess the weather is changing everywhere.
I might just have to get some firewood this year! ^_^
lol...I did NOT pick that one, as I just plain don't wanna hear those words!
Did snow a bit here over the weekend....no accumulation *yet*.
Lin...I do believe the last photo I saw of you was the one 'in ponytail while gardening'.
Whoooooohooooo keep 'em comin'
Falling Snow in any context....PHOOEY! :-(
Lin I think your hat helped me a bit.
Got it! Still moving along at a snail's pace, but moving.
I am getting restless............can't stand the wait............today is the 17th..............we need a winner soon!!
Somehow I don't think I'm gonna win...lol...
which is okay, cuz I'm having fun playing!
^_^
As for 'falling snow'...it's still in the 80s here...
Sharon
So sorry I'm going to slow for you Gail.I'm not on the computer much.Maybe next month you can do the bingo at a faster pace.
Ok gang, I'm going to start firing calls at you 2-3 a day and finish up this game by the weekend. Then you all will have next week to plan your turkey day cooking.
35.Columea Aladdin's Lamp
http://www.gesneriads.ca/colum190.htm
LOL, Gail's not even playing in this game! Can you imagine how restless she'd be if she was playing? ^_^ I always look forward to the last couple of days when folks are getting real close!
I'm going to check everybody's cards to see who has what!
now jannich.................did I detect a tad bit of sarcasm coming from a very dear friend? Lin, that is why I can't play bingo............I just have knots in my stomach and I am not even playing as you said..............where is everyone, tonight?
Doggone it Lin!!!!
Not only did I not have Falling Snow on my card, but it's been snowing ever since you announced it! Give me a break, please!
Brrrrr! Good morning ladies! Talk about Falling Snow! I think it's getting cold enough here in Florida that we could actually see some of that white stuff falling! It's 48 outside right now which isn't bad of course but tonight we are supposed to be in the 30's! Who's sending these cold temperature's so far south?!%*@#% We are breaking records down here ... it's waaaay too early for us to be this cold!
Morning,one of todays call is
23.Sinningia Speciosa Diego
http://www.gesneriads.ca/sinni114.htm
48?!?!? It's at 40 here right now . . .
Hmm . . . I think I'll wait for the next call . . . ;-(
Love the call. ^_^
You aren't getting the cold from here...86F here yesterday. Today's high, 85F.
:-P
Today's high is to be a whopping 75F.
Ha! 30's during the day, 20's at night for rest of week... with gale winds predicted tomorrow. Time to hibernate--see you in the spring!
Our high is s'posed to be 50--28 right now :( I didn't like that call either :P
love the plant, just don't have it on my bingo list. lol
mrsbonnie
boo hoo :(
didn't have that one either. I never won at regular bingo either. I guess things never change. ^_^
aww imadigger, don't give up, the last week can change a whole bunch.lol.
Bonnie, I love that plant too.I grew Diego pink from a seed, took cuttings and gave them away or traded, then the darn thing went dormant.Never did get to see it bloom.Maybe it will wake up someday.^_^
It going to be low 50/20's in AL.for the next week. With heavy winds.Yuck.
Sitting here drinking another cup of coffee ... too chilly to do anything outside yet, LOL ... to be honest, I'm just being lazy this morning! I haven't accomplished a thing this morning except making the bed and feeding the cats! I am going to do some baking if I ever get up off my butt and get going!
I just took a look at the Bingo Cards. Looks like AV Falling Snow was popular with a lot of you, eleven folks had that one on their card, same for Columnea Aladdin's Lamp, eleven of you choosing that one too! The first call of the day today Sinn. speciosa diego wasn't quite as popular, only six of you chose that one!
Jan, even with calling 2-3 a day I don't know if we will get 7 winners by the weekend. Seven really great prizes to claim, but some folks have a way to go yet. Here's a look at what I see so far, Out of 22 Players:
One person needs four more for Bingo!
One person needs five more
Six people need six
Four people need seven
Four people need eight
Three need nine
Two people still need ten calls
One person still needs eleven!
So, you can see a lot of folks are kinda hanging together in what they need to holler bingo. Seven great prizes to claim, even $10 for the biggest loser! I love holding the cards and being able to play along with all the players, seeing who is getting close, and anxiously waiting for the slower ones to get going!
Gosh, I just can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! Where does the time go? Another new year will be upon us in a flash! Seems like as soon as October arrives the months start to fly!
LOL, I walked away from my computer ... forgot to hit send on my last post so it's been sitting here since 8:30.
We are windy here today too, @20 mph winds. Supposed to have wind chills tonight between 18 - 30 degrees! YIKES! This is Florida, not supposed to have cold like this before January and then it's only for a day or two here and there during that month. Weather reports have us staying cold for about 7 or 8 days! Really strange! I don't mind mid 40's at night but I hate daytime temp's to be below low 70's! We are having record breaking lows. Darned weather changes! I think I will move to Arizona where DonM47/Donna is! Our normal temps for this time of year are @ 80 days and high 50's at night ... what a change we are having! But, I won't complain too much ... at least it's not raining! That would really make it worse!
Yeah, Lin...come to Arizona!
80s this week..and we don't (mostly) have humidity, and NEVER hurricanes!!!
Sharon in Phoenix
I sent the cold down there (Ü) Just wanted you to have sympathy chills! LOL!!
Now send that Florida warmth up here!!
I wonder if I could get used to the dry heat after living on the coast all my life with the year round high humidity? I have very dry skin and it is so much worse in the winter! I could almost take a bath in baby oil and still have scaly, dry skin an hour afterwards!
It's getting so the older I get the more I can't take the humidity in the summer but I don't like cold weather and can't ever imagine living where there's all the snow and ice!
I've never been to Phoenix. Went through AZ back in 1969 when we drove cross country to California when DH had training for the Navy. We stayed in Las Cruces if I remember correctly but don't remember too much about it. Stayed in San Antonio on the way out and back with some friends who were stationed there in the AF. My husband teaches at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and they have a campus in Prescott, AZ. I've been telling him I'd love if he could teach out there a couple of semesters and we could see what it's like! I've never been to the campus there but hear it's in a very nice area.
Nan ... Warmth? You sent cold temp's here ... hopefully just for a very, very short period, LOL. It is beautiful out today ... 61 degrees right now and breezy but the sun is shining so I have nothing to complain about! I was out in the yard a little while ago and it feels warmer than 61 in the sun but when you get in the shade, the wind makes it feel a lot cooler. I know my sister and her family in South Florida are not happy about the cold front coming through. They say it's freezing when it's 60 degrees down there! ^_^ They're only going to have a high of @68 tomorrow and a low of 50 so I know they aren't going to like that! I do remember being down in Miami one Christmas and it was 40 degrees and windy and boy did it feel cold! They are not used to temp's like that at all! I'm sure it must have broken a record. Back in the late 70's it snowed in South Florida and even the Bahamas! http://www.islandnet.com/~see/weather/almanac/arc2002/alm02jan.htm That was a winter to remember for us Southern folks!
I love y'all!
But just wanted you to feel those sympathy chills so you'd know what I go through! lol! (12 degrees here this morning....still had plants in the garage....afraid to look at them and won't be able to until later....gotta work tonight!)
That's a beauty....love variegated foliage.
(wrong call, though - come on!) (Ü)
Woo hoo! I got another one. I'm on a roll now!
Sarah
Shucks!!!!
I WAS on a roll until that call. Booo Hooo : (
