The Horned Owls have always concerned me more. Bud is about the size of a large rabbit.
Yep, they could take a dog that size. As long as the puppy is indoors overnight, you should be OK.
Resin
Yep..he is afraid of the dark!! LOL
hah. Yah, resin, I was going to say that you haven't seen that little pipsqueak of a doggie! My CAT could take him! LOL.
LOL :-))
Though seriously - a cat (2½-6 kg) is a lot larger than a hawk (1 kg), and can take much bigger prey.
Hawks may look big because of their wings, but they're pretty puny little things in reality.

GP, the colours of the Painted Bunting are amazing.
duc, what a capture. I figure the Bald Eagle must be a female as it can multi-task.
Nanny, what an experience with the hawk. Re the window cleaning - my motto is "clean windows kill birds".
I saw quite a few Yellow-rumped Warblers this weekend too, so it was nice of you to finally share some of your birds Nanny!
My brother told me that he saw a hawk take a cat off of a fence in California. He knows his birds of prey pretty well and I swear he has binoculars for eyes, but maybe he was mistaken. I'll have to ask him about it again.
Margaret, thank you for finally giving me a reason not to clean those windows!
awwww, no way claudia. he's the cutest pipsqueak around!
OMG Margaret, you are so funny.
I just knew clean windows were bad!! lol
Seriously cute owl food Nanny! Glad he's afraid of the dark!
