hmmm...another peeping tom at your house. Getting suspicious about you burn! LOL
I am getting one of the heated dishes this year too.
DAILY PICS VOL. 152
That Grebe is a looker!!
Beautiful day Margaret!
Here's one from a few days ago when we had sun. The leaves are almost all of the trees here by the house so my light is better for picture taking. The gold in the background is a norway maple that needs to come down as it is growing in the middle of my lilac bush. It's a nightmare project I've been avoiding for years. At least it has provided me with a nice backdrop here!
Very nice guys! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for Pine Siskens too. Mine didn't stay long last year either; as soon as they saw how many hawks were around they bolted.
I also had my first red-bellied woodpecker of the season today! Haven't downloaded pix yet though to see if they are any good.
Beautiful pics. I just put out the finch feeder and I can't wait for them to visit. I'm kind of hoping this bird was a finch. It was flying around with the blue-headed vireo and it was smaller than the vireo, but it looks like about a 100 birds in my book. OK, not really that many, but I just can't tell.
This pic is not that clear, but I like it anyway. It's in my neighbor's sweet gum tree. The hurricane blew the leaves off of some of the trees, and the trees responded by sending out fresh green new leaves. It's very weird to see this bright green everywhere at this time of year. My crepe myrtle was so confused that it sent out some flowers too. I'm not sure how that will affect the seasons.
Anyway, here's a female red-bellied woodpecker.
I love the Blue-headed Vireo!
Here she is again
Orange-crowned Warbler. Note the generally greeny-yellowy-browny plumage, yellowest around the undertail coverts.
Don't ask me why it's called "Orange-crowned" . . . the orange crown is "rarely seen in the field" according to Sibley. Like the ruby crown on a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, but even more so.

OMG, you can see generally greeny-yellowy-browny plumage! You're amazing. I saw one once and was able to identify it by the orange crown, but it was bathing. If it hadn't been bathing, I would never have figured out what it was!
Pelle, I tried so hard to get this Ruby-crowned Kinglet. This one in the tangle of branches was the best I could do, so I have to praise your amazing kinglet shots again!
That is usually how my kinglet shots are too. I guess they just love those bushes and trees that are tight with limbs and branches. And if there is one little spot of shade they will be in it.
GP, Love the Hummingbird and Buntings!
Elphaba,Very nice pic of the Kinglet;they certainly are a difficult subject! Mine were in a more open area but their so amazingly fast it's a test of ones patience. :-)
Cool du!!
This pic is not great but htis was so cool. I was out just a bit ago walking the dog and we had stopped to take apic of the bluebirds in a tree. I just happened to turn and man here was a hawk coming right at me real fast!!
Of course I am a tad slow, so only got this pic after had passed right infront of me!!!! Then it was gone. It was scarey but so cool that it came so close.
Heh, be careful nanny, that hawk looks like it could carry off your little dog!
duc, what cool eagle pics!!!
Thank you Flower and Nanny.
Glad the hawk didn't get your pup Nanny. At least you got a photo of it. The Bluebirds and Warbler look so pretty in the trees.

No need to worry - hawks aren't that large or strong. A Bald Eagle might, possibly, be able to, but not a hawk.
