Here is a Northern Cardinal from the other day. Please join in and share your pics.
DAILY PICS VOL. 152
Pelle, your cardinal is perfect!
Dave, I can't remember what pics I voted for in the contest, but I'm pretty sure that if I saw any bluebirds like those shots above, I would have voted for them. WOW! The colors and detail are just gorgeous.
Here's a Cooper's Hawk that visited this morning. I kept walking around trying to get a better vantage point. He didn't like that at all.
Great pics, Pelle, Dave, and Elphalba. Dave, the bluebirds that I have right now are not very cooperative at all. They aren't even coming to my yard but I only see them along the road on power lines and I'm waiting for the Goldfinches to return anytime now.
Elph, I've found that hawks do not like to have their pictures taken, either!
Beautiful start for the new thread Pelle, Dave and Elph!! The Card is gorgeous and of course I love Dave's Bluebirds! Elph..those Hawk's sure can be camera shy but you did well!!
As I type this I am amazed that the Bluebirds have adapted to the feeding cage so quickly. Birds are much more intelligent than I ever gave them credit for.
We've had Red-winged Blackbirds for the last few days..the eat a lot! LOL! Here is a Juvie.
However, the Cedar Waxwings were very cooperative on wednesday. I had stopped in the middle of the road trying to determine from which direction I was hearing some bird sounds. So there I am standing and all of a sudden waxwings are flying right by me and over me to get to the berries. Totally amazing...but I couldn't move much since I did not want to scare them away. So, I only got 5 shots that were keepers.
Nanny, I love your Cedar Waxwing photos! I have to tell you that you have me looking for them. I don't usually see them until Feb., but it seems that if I see them in the spring, I should see them in the fall too right? Anyway, a flock of birds landed in my neighbor's fruit tree, and I snapped a bunch of pictures in case they were Cedar Waxwings. They weren't! House sparrows every one!
Now with Mrs. Ed and Rose's pics, I'm going to be looking for Red-winged Blackbirds too! Those were lovely shots!
I also read that a pair of Bald Eagles nested in the Woodlands last winter. I'm going to have to look for those too.
Y'all have such a big influence over me!
You wouldn't believe how much zoom and crop I did and still he looks soooo far away!
about hawks...this is best I could with one I saw yesterday. Not even sure who it is
Probably Red-shopuldered, but needs a better view to be certain

Thanks Pelle for the new thread, I'm hoping to see the cardinal sometime here, it's been spotted in the area, but have never seen it.
Wonderful Dave.
Nanny I love the fall colors in the background in your photos, it brings out the bird.
This lone Canada goose, is at the Marina. Because people have been feeding it, I don't know, if it's going to make the trip south this winter. It came right up to me yesterday, I was able to take close up pic of it, but the light wasn't right. Went back this afternoon, and got this.
I meant to comment on the BlueBirds wing-wave, it is just so special!! Thanks Dave and everyone for such wonderful pics.
Sheri
I really appreciate that my neighbors have trees that look so pretty in the fall! All they left on this lot was a Silver Maple & either an Elm or an Ash I can never remember which it is. I hope to take them out one day. I have planted a Red Maple and a River Birch. Hoping to add more eventually!
Couple shots of a Downy Woodpecker I saw on a walk the other day
I've posted this on another thread, but I'm really pleased that I finally managed to get a shot of one of our most common birds, the Singing Honeyeater.
Nice pics, Nanny. Love the Woodpeckers. You keep flaunting those Cedar Waxwings and dellrose will be steaming. Nice Red Winged Balckbirds, Rose.
Burn, isn't it sad when you see a lone bird that you know shouldn't be there.
Sweet little House Finch Mrs Ed.
Pelle, the Cardinal is spectacular.
duc, how fortunate you are to see a Bald Eagle so frequently.
Talking of large birds, cool Vultures Frank
Hel, that Brush Turkey looks like it has one of those Shakespearean ruffs that's slipped down on its neck a bit too far. Do you have the Singing Honeyeaters where you are?
All the photos are so great to see each day. I've never seen a Black Vulture and think they're much better looking than our Turkey Vultures.
Margaret that Honeyeater is just beautiful. Great photos of the Goldfinches and Downy.
Love that Brush Turkey too!!
I love the sound of our Calif. Thrashers. Caught this one hunting for breakfast.
