Suggestions for sunny apartment

Brooklyn, NY

I just moved in to a NY apartment with a south-facing 6x8 window, top floor. It gets ridiculous light and heats up the apartment. It has a foot-deep windowsill and I'd like to fill it up with things that will enjoy that much light. (But I'm a beginner and on a budget). Looking for low- to medium- maintenance plants/flowers to fill it up, short in the middle, tall on the sides.

xburba,
You can have so much fun finding things to fill your indoorbed. In a sunny window you can have a lot of choices.

I can throw some ideas your way and you can decide.

What colors do you want? The old standbys are begonias. They come in red, pink, and white. grow to about 18" and can be pruned.

Geraniums are another old standby and come in pinks, reds and whites and various bi colors.

There are new species of flowers appearing on the market all the time that you could use.

Green leaf plants easily grown are mother-in-law tongue(snake plant) Rubber tree, cornplant, palms.
