Daily Pics - Vol. 150

Melbourne, FL

Pelle, I wouldn't want that "bird" landing in my backyard! Great shot.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Methodical, I have no idea what the bush is. It is in a neighbors yard down the road. The house just sold. So have know idea if the new owner would know what it is.

I have see the waxwings, bluejays and Yellow-rumps on it. Oh, and Robins too!

Gorgeous birds, everyone. Pelle, I went to the Red Bull air race in Perth today and an FA18 Hornet went over to open the event. It came from behind at LOW level and no-one in the crowd was expecting it. A young German woman (total stranger) and I grabbed each other in fright, then couldn't stop laughing. Great conversation starter.

Edited to say it obviously jangled my nerves, as I forgot to add that I have no idea what this little bird that I saw the other day is.

I got some bad pics of a gull the other day down at the lake. Resin couldn't ID for sure. I went back yesterday and didnm't get any better pics...but through our not so great binoculars we concluded it what we were seeing then anyways was a Ring-billed Gull. So that is bird # 94 on my list.

I was able to get this female Cardinal at the feeder...

Wow, jjulio, the tail on the Mousebird is fantastic. Any more?

Johannesburg, South Africa

These birds are common here, and fly always in groups, but I have no idea why. Ignorant on these matters, I lament...

Gardenpom: Keep those bunting picks coming. I adore them! Great Mock' shots, too.
Nanny: I love the Waxwings, too. Like Frank, we only see them a few days each
year.
Adlebertcat: I agree with irisMA, that's a beautiful portrait of the Pine Siskin.
Jjulio: AMazing to see your "common" birds!
Ducbucin: So nice to see hummingbirds. Our seem to have exited the area.

And one last shot as he leaves me. Too bad you can't see his head. (Should've had this one yesterday for the Halloween thread).

This is one of the bluebirds that nest in a woodpecker hole in a dead tree behind our house. The hole is at least 40 feet up but apparently it works for them.

And finally, a shot of Papa, taken from so close I couldn't get all of his wings in the frame.
