Ugh. I was using cold stratification on a dozen or so southern magnolia seeds and clearly I am doing something wrong.
I soaked the seeds overnight, then placed them on a paper towel, which I barely misted with water to make it damp.
Placed them in a plastic bag in fridge - two weeks later I went to check on them and they are covered in mold.
What did I do wrong?
Prevent Mold during cold stratification
Can I get some assistance from anyone on this? Kinda a newbie at this and rly want to know what I did wrong...
Other seeds seem to be fine... I now have growing several different types:
samanea saman
eucalyptus deglupta
pineapple guava...
but the southern magnolia seeds just molded completely within 1 week of placing in fridge.
Pls assist!
Just another gardener here - but those seeds don't get a chilling in their normal climate adn do just fine. Maybe try to plant them in soiless mix and see how that does?
