a few questions about Lindera benzoin

I am doing a research project on Lindera Benzoin and I am looking for some information on it.
I am wondering if it has any wives tales or if it has any medicinal uses. Or if you have any interesting information about the spice bush that would be greatly appreaciated.

Lindera benzoin (note that this is the proper nomenclature :) is an important host plant for Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillars which turn into lovely butterflies.
