Lions Tail

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

This plant reseeded after about 5 yrs or so,grew to 10 ft or more, then hurricane force wind uprooted a couple weeks back,it laid on the ground,I thought it would be waste of time to stake and put back, since it was so close to the first frost.
So I started tearing down my rainforest piling leaves and stuff over the top of her,and woe and behold,it came to life and flowered, showing the power to survive!

Thanks, and Joe'swife,Debra, took the plant home with her, hoping the flower seedpod might ripen up,to get the seeds for next year!

Pretoria, South Africa

I just love Leonorus. Here in South Africa they flower right through the year, and the bids just love the nectar especially in winter. It self sows readily. Let me know should you need some seed.

Elsa, would that be the shorter variety?

Pretoria, South Africa

The seeds were labeled L. nepetifolia. It can grow up to 3m, although mine didn't even reach 2m. I dead headed the plant after flowering, and it is forming lots of new growth.

Hope it helps. :-)
