This plant reseeded after about 5 yrs or so,grew to 10 ft or more, then hurricane force wind uprooted a couple weeks back,it laid on the ground,I thought it would be waste of time to stake and put back, since it was so close to the first frost.
So I started tearing down my rainforest piling leaves and stuff over the top of her,and woe and behold,it came to life and flowered, showing the power to survive!
Lions Tail
How fortunate for you Tropicman....that is one determined plant! And a beauty too.

Thanks, and Joe'swife,Debra, took the plant home with her, hoping the flower seedpod might ripen up,to get the seeds for next year!
I just love Leonorus. Here in South Africa they flower right through the year, and the bids just love the nectar especially in winter. It self sows readily. Let me know should you need some seed.
Elsa
Elsa, would that be the shorter variety?
The seeds were labeled L. nepetifolia. It can grow up to 3m, although mine didn't even reach 2m. I dead headed the plant after flowering, and it is forming lots of new growth.
Hope it helps. :-)
Elsa
Yep,thats what I have,there is a dwarf variety,that only gets a 1m.
This is a dwarf???? LOL oh my goodness!
3 meters is over 12ft,the dwarf is much shorter,I gave you the tall one, still looking for the dwarf variety.
Wow, will keep my eyes open for the dwarf variety - less likely to snap...
For goodness sakes nothing is dwarf at his house!
It just the greenhouses are too small!!!LOL
