I'm growing a garden in a greenhouse at school. It has a heating system and fans and all that. It also has a shade that comes over automatically when the sensors pick up that its too hot.My garden is on two tables that sit about 4 feet off the floor.THe bottom has a screen but also the weed barriar plastic is stapled on. The boxes are about 5-6 inches deep. We use a soiless mixture, I'm pretty sure and ammend with vermicompost. I'm growing , as we speak, closest to the west wall...European cucumbers (they havent put on those tendrils quite yet) but I have made something for them to latch on and climb. I'm also growing sugar snap peas, which are growing like crazy up some strings also. Further in I am growing, Cheddar cauliflower (first time) Kale, spinach, kohlrabi, carrots(short ones special ordered) turnips, lots of lettuces, Black seeded simpson and Mesclun mix and Romaine(hadn't tried romaine either) all kinds of radishes, but not isycle.I'm growing chives, sweet basil, cilantro. Everything is growing nicely right now. I've been picking the lettuce and chives and had some radishes yesterday. I sprinkled radish and carrot seed together this time. Radishes make , you pick them , then the carrots have room to grow on. Last year I grew about the same things, but we also grew some Fava beans. We weren't sure what to expect, they seemed to take a long time but we harvested a few!. My friend grew a tomatoe plant in one of these boxes and it made! But it was indeterminate and grew so tall. Not a good idea for a greenhouse plant if your growing on tables!! All this was grown in the fall and over into winter here which gets some freezes and a couple days of ice and even snow.
