Sago Palms

San Antonio, TX

Hi I am a beginner, just purchase 2 sago palms. I would like to plant them in the spring. I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with these palms. Thank You. Linda

Linda,

Now is the best time to plant them. They will grow roots all winter and then be ready to grow new leaves in early summer. If you have a hard freeze this winter just cover them with a blanket. They can handle light frost, I would guess 28 or lower might burn the leaves.

Linda,
There's some good information about Sago palms (Cycas revoluta) at this site:

I've been growing one in a pot on my front porch for several years and I just love it.
