Here's a female Painted Bunting.
Daily Pics - Vol. 147
LOL MRS ED!! I never knew this group was so funny ;) Seriously though, those are some really nice tits - I always enjoy seeing them. Wish we had them here. (OK you guys, don't be dirty!)
By the way Mrs Ed, I LOVE all those "in your face" shots. How on earth do you get so close??
GP I am so glad the birds arrived in FL so we can see all your cool pics. But I would like it more if you could pack up a few buntings and ship them to me. Wanna do a trade? I have lots and lots of doves and grackles I could send you! Just check my trade list.... LOL. Wouldn't it be neat if we could do a bird swap?
You would have to include a few of those Texas only birds to make the deal, and even then....maybe not!
Ha. I get so close because I put the bird feeder about 10 feet from my home office window! "if you build it, they will come"
They ARE adorable. I wish I could entice them to my yard in town.
GP...Just lovely! I love your colorful birds...how lucky you are!
Nanny...I saw a flock of about 30 Turkey Vultures flying very high in the sky...it was kind of spooky...made me glad I was alive!
Mrs. Ed...LOL!
Love your TT Pelle..I hear them around but haven't seen them in the yard yet.
I do think the TT's win the cutest birds at the feeder prize!!
Oh...I love it when I see large groups of TV's!! I am curious as to the reason for them. Just remember they eat carrion!!
Just went through this morning pics and not much there I'll tell ya. Will try again later maybe if it warms up a bit.
Song Sparrow from Tuesday...I got absolutely nothing yesterday.
I'm jealous of your Waxwings Nanny!!
When I saw that large flock of Vultures they were heading south so maybe they were just going to their winter home. It sure was spooky seeing so many!
Wallaby, those Blue tits look like a cross between our Blue Jay and Chickadee.
Great pics, everyone. There are so many it's hard to comment on each one individually!
And, yes, Pelle, I agree that the Tufted Titmouse is one of the most photogenic of my feeder birds. Carolina CHickadees are not bad either.
That is really creepy about the vultures. Do they migrate south for the winter?
When I was up in Montana, one morning we woke up to the sound of all these crows cawing back in forth loudly. It was like they were having a party. I went outside, and saw tons of TV flying over, along with a bunch of crows. They seemed to all be heading to one area in the woods. I went for a little walk to see what all the excitement was about, and came upon a freshly dead deer. It's body was completely intact, and probably had just died of old age. The trees were lined with crows and vultures, with more arrived by the minute. Anyways, we went out for a day of hiking in Glacier NP, and when we returned that evening (oh about 8 hours later) I went to see if the deer was still there, and all that was left were the bones. I couldn't believe how fast they picked that carcas clean!
I love that TT!! Never noticed the little black patch above their nose. I vote for them or chickadees for cutest bird. The blue-gray gnatcatcher or ruby-crowned kinglet are also really really cute.
Nanny, can you tell the those waxwings that it is time for them to head to Texas now? They are magnificent!
GP, I don't know that there is anything in Texas that you don't see in Florida..... at least not in Houston. South Texas has some really nice birds from Mexico I could steal for ya!
I see them Elphaba! Nice pics!
