eevie, mine eat from the ground. I toss out some stuff for the ground feeders, plus the leftovers from messy birds at the feeders.
Daily Pics - Vol. 147
Oh that wren is just too adorable for words!
Haven't seen goldfinches yet, must be enough wild stuff around. Feeder up 2 days & just the regular crowd, chickadees, tufted mitmice, W breasted nuthatch (2 0f those at once so I know we have a pair) & blue jays. Haven't seen the cardinals yet although we know they have been around all summer.
Mrs_Ed - I get too many squirrels, and chipmunks, to leave food on the ground :( Will have to build one of those caged feeders one of these days, though the chipmunk will get in.
And where isn't a purple finch a rarity? Glad you got lots of pix!
Oh, and great shot of the chickadee with the seed in its mouth!
Great capture of the Geese bebop, I had some fly over at dusk some weeks ago now, they flew one way then came back but I couldn't get a pic, no time to get the camera! There was one huge 'V' across the sky with several smaller ones, never seen so many.
Funny bottoms up!
I have a cutie Great Tit too Mrs_Ed ~ and Blue Tit, lol! We had sun too.
Funny too you should get a Wren, Rose, there was one in my neighbour's greenhouse when I went there yesterday. His big fat cat was on top of the propogator sunning himself, I don't think he knew it was there until it flew up from the ground. He got booted out and I left the door open just a little, although windows were open too. It has cobwebs on it's head!
Lovely Pelle!
Mrs. Ed, Wallaby and Nanny...you guys have outdone yourselves today. Love the TV.s, Purple Finch, Tits and Wren shots!
It is very slow birding in our yard...mostly Bluebirds, Wrens and Woodpeckers. Haven't a clue where all the other little birdies are...!
Here is a Red-bellied Woodpecker practicing for his high-wire act!
wow, gorgeous. I wish they would come in town to visit me!!
Rose, I love that "On Guard" shot!
Did anyone else see that ABC news did a story on the Bar-tailed Godwit tonight?
Yes--very long flight; no fuel problem! It was on NBC as well.
Nanny, I'd be VERY wary if I had Vultures circling close by. How are you feeling?
What fantastic birds everyone.
Thanks for the Blue Jays, Mrs Ed.
Rose, I feel so sorry for you, having mostly only Woodpeckers, Wrens and Bluebirds. Sad. NOT! What gorgeous birds.
Adelbertcat and Frank, fantastic birds, Herons. Frank that scene look so peaceful.
Linthicum, your patience paid off. Bottoms up is a beauty.
Wallaby, love your Tits. Great capture on the sparrow eating off its underside.
Pelle, love shot of the House Finch.
ahem…
Wallaby, love your …
… call the censors.
Lol, if I could only tell you a story about that!
