This one is for Kim, Mama Dragon fruit is in too! I had to repot her, she was among many other cactis. Hopefully I'll get fruit next season, i am tire of her not producing, by Spring, she is going on a HUGE pot with lots of fertilizer.

1Anjl, you are in CA and your people grow them, how 'bout some advise, haa haa.

Clemen, Do I need to drive 12 hours , get you, pick up others on the way ???? Hmmm Okay, lets do it! :P
I would do most anything for a Hottie Sister! ( any of yas) Today Joanna carved her second pumpkin, we did seeds, I made salsa, alot of baking, planted a passie pod in dirt, hmm I wonder if that will work? LOL

*****sigh****** Full as a tick from grilled steaks, baked potato casserole and sauteed mushrooms...Ah, the good life! What a day, I can't believe the amount of yard work I got accomplished. Everything is clean, Neem-oiled, and ready to go in the greenhouse. Banana trees are dug up with roots washed, and I'm one tired old hen.

This is going to sound like the stupidest question on earth, but how many hours a day should your greenhouse lights be on? I have a timer, but Jerry commented that they were such low energy lights I should just leave them on all the time, no use in turning on and off, but I KNOW that's wrong. What should I do, especially at seed starting time?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Karen, I turn mine on in the am, one at first then before I leave all of them, as I am trying to mimic the outside..

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Deb! How about turning them off, do you use the same method and how many hours on?

Clem, I know absolutely nothing about cacti... sorry! My great-gramma grew lots and lots of cacti, they were all in pots on her sun porch... I think I learned at a very young age to HATE those things... musta reached out and grabbed one or something lol! dont know why I dont care much for them...hence, I never learned anything about them...well except they hurt lil baby fingers! lol!
you may want to check with palmbob (I think thats the correct DG name) he is in SoCal and has lots of cacti.... knows alot about them.

Hey Lissa, WELCOME BACK! Now, puppies need to take naps several times a day.... so just make sure you check the hottie thread FIRST lol! else, you'll never catch up with these speed typers! lol!

Okay, here is the deal.... When lissa made her post I realized the PERFECT solution to our hottie RU........DISNEYLAND!! See, we could all fly into disneyland and even bring the families and the kids and DH can go to disneyland and we can all go to Hottie-land! LOL! okay, well...it was an idea anyhow! lol! Plus, I havent met lissa in person yet, and she is only an 8 hr drive from me... I could swing by and pick her up on my way! teehee!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I like that Anjl! We are actually looking into that for Dec 31, this year!

LOL!!! Oh, I'm liking the Disneyland idea....hee hee But I'm south of DL and your north of DL....so you would have to come down to San Diego, get me, then we could drive for 2 hours and be at the Happiest Place on Earth!!LOL!! Can you tell we go every now and then...one of the perks of my BIL dating someone who has a family member who works there... hee hee

But, that really would be fun... a big family vacation for everyone involved ;o)

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

well, My DH was born the same year disneyland opened. He has lived in CA all his life...and the poor man has never been to disneyland! I really need to rectify that! LOL! and now with the new grandson.... will be a yr old in december.... thats a great time to go !! (I believe he is still free entry at that age) so he could get in free and cant complain as a teenager that he never got to go... lol! he just wont remember much :) lol!
then my DSD also hasnt been... well neither has Sheldon, but I dont think they'll let him in the park :(

Oh lissa, thats okay! We will just rent a motorhome and drive down to pick up you and DH & DS a few days earlier...that way we can finish up your garden (remember it only took me 3 days to do moms! lol!) and then head out to meet the rest of the hotties!

and with this being CA...well, weather is never a problem! LOL! its always 72* here!

Kody would love to meet Christopher!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Melisaaaaaaaaaaa, you are already in CA, stop complaining, lol, we all have to travel across the usa to reach the destination!

Haha, I agree Clemmie poo! That's a 3 day drive for me.....I won't be bringing Jerry if we have a hottie RU, I want to leave everyone behind and run away by myself! It will be a trip just for ME! LOL!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

oh yes, but they offer lots of wonderful disneyland packages... including hotels and flights and rental cars... teehee!

and clem if your going there for new years eve...let me know! I just may talk DH and Lissa into a mini hottie ru! LOL!

I did that one year for the kids christmas... told them we couldnt afford christmas presents that year and so I was going to take them to play in the snow....cause "memories are the bestest gifts!" I packed all their snow gear into the car, snow suits, boots, mittens and all! piled the kids in the car and started the 8 hour drive...even stopped at a drug store on the way cause 'mom forgot to bring chap stick!' lol! then.... I pulled into the disneyland parking lot. My kids were 10, 8, and 2 yo.... the 8 & 10 yr old were shocked and confused.... mom...are we at disneyland?! lolol! my daughter actually started crying! she wanted to go to the snow! she asked why didnt you tell us we were going to disneyland... and answered...well, did I tell you what I was giving you for christmas last year?! teehee!
Then I asked the kids if they remembered what they got for christmas last year, and they couldnt recall. I told them that this year their gift was happy memories.... and do you know they have ALWAYS remembered what they got for christmas that year?! Now, we celebrate christmas with memories every year...gifts have to be hand made, not store bought...etc. lots of fun :)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh wow! I was given some yellow blooming prickly pear starts and they took off like crazy, Clemen.. I think I just might like cacti :)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeah Karen, ther you go girl! I refused to drive 12 hours though, not in my book, I get antsy.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Karen, I turn them ( the lights) off when I go to bed, even tho it is dark outside.. the little couple hours seems to make them happy.. see I am getting blooms from the HIBS that didn't bloom outside this year...go figger..

I am so beside myself with anticipation, I can't stand it.. oh yeal, Cat sent me some cuttings and I had a few from ebay come in, and after I read the forum on broadmites, I ran them under hot water and drenched their soil with it and they look really good now.. ( I had some of those broadmites)
I have a plummie that she sent and it is potted and in another area...I planted some yucca seeds today I have never done yucca. took them off a plant gone to seed at a friends' house..

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

night Clem....

hey wait...now who is gonna help keep #26 alive?!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

All of us hotties in the midwest could carpool together to a new destination. Talk about cheap gas...course unless we have a big vehicle we won't be buying much.
Feb, Mar or April can be pretty cold here or make it in the summer. If we went summer some place guess we could all go to a camping place, that would be a trip.

AuntB or whoever who uses the receipe to spray on the brugs, is it sticky, like on the walls, windows, or floors?

Cleaned up one whole flower bed and finished the other. Planted 10 day lilies hope it isn't too late. Theresa (a friend or maybe I will change that description) brought over a formosia tree....another plant to plant. Thats ok I sent a ginger home with her....LOL....one good deed deserves another or something like that. Filled 3 more buckets of sod on the tractor....I don't have a muscle that doesn't hurt....LOL

Donna, Debra glad to hear you all are feeling better.
AuntB do you have a cold? YUCK
So if I have a plant at work then I would be eager to go to work????? That is a thought.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

My Jacuzzi is nice and hot for those sore muscles.. always ready.. I like that! Come on over... just got the new one.. it is small.. space for 2 got rid of the 6 seater... but I have a lot more patio space now.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Clemmen, goodnight Hottie sis,
Happ I don't think Kens mix is sticky, I use it everywhere..I even put it in my rooting tubs..

Just popping in to say goodnight, Lisa and I had some things to get done today then we got her pack up. She will spend the day tomorrow with her sister before going to Boston to catch her long flight back to Italy. So sad.

I took a quick scan of the thread tonight; I will read it in the morning with my coffee.

Waving a big Hottie welcome to Starlight.

Have a great night all, I’m off for some Zzzzzzzzzzz’s myself.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Tammie, at least 4 Hotties, right? Be right there.. LOL

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

tammie, I sure wish I could climb in there! but no baths or soaking for me until these bandaid stitches fall off! grr... My tummy muscles sure could use a good soak. and everyone around the house seems to think its funny to get me laughing cause I hurt so bad :( LOL! they are all sooo mean!

Oh Dana, I feel for you! I remember those days sooo well. My DSD was about 2 yo and went shopping with us once. ( I really never liked to take the kids shopping! LOL! easier if they were at home) anyhow she opened the door in the dairy section and found an empty milk shelf... her daddy caught her by the shoe as she was crawling into the freezer! she was such a quick lil imp! lol! after that I did all the shopping while he stayed home with the kids! lol!
Hope your lil one is okay!

Debra love that rooting tub... is it sold as a rooting tub or is it something you converted? I had heard of the bucket of water with the air stone....but I like the looks of your tub better! LOL!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Beck, do you know what your name is? (You explain it, tee hee) I have been sitting here trying to see if you got home safe and you post on #28? Hope you and Ethel (Hug) made it okay, and I still have not posted the pictures of the packed Vibe.

Glad you are both home safe, whew! And now I really have to go to bed! Lov, Peg
