Design Ideas for planting bulbs

Northfield, MN(Zone 4a)

Hi -
Zone 4a here. I have a small collection of bulbs purchased through a school fundraiser that I need to plant. The collection consists of the typical tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, and crocus. Can you suggest a couple of places to look online for some inspiration in terms of how to plant these? I know I don't want to put them in a nice neat line. Looking forward to some pretty pictures to inspire me, even though these are just "everyday" bulbs.

Try planting them in "groups" of uneven numbers, to have them look more natural...3, 5, 7 or more per group of the same type of bulb, like they would grow in nature.

You could also combine them with low growing annuals so the bulb flowers poke up throught them.

Not sure of a website but I always plant mine in zigzags or figure eights with them intersecting each other.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I will give it a shot and try to be patient waiting for spring!

When I want a natural look for my spring bulbs, I hold the waistband of my sweater and sit piles of bulbs in the dent and just walk slowly scattering them, wherever they fall is the way I plant them, but I do Daffi's first as they go in deeper, then the tulips etc, it wont matter if a few are right next to each other as in nature this is how they grow anyway, Just dont throw them far, just bend down as you scatter this will give you a more natural effect at flowering time. as you make your planting holes, add a pinch of bone meal etc to give them a feed to make good strong healthy bulbs for future years to come, try mark the area you plant so no one stands on the tender tips as they emerge through the soil and are hard to find at this stage. good luck.
