Oh now I know there are more out there!!!
I got this one about 3 days ago of a pair of Ceadar Waxwings...I was soooo bummed that it didn't turn out.
What's your most disappointing shot of the day? Vol.3
Almost every Cedar Waxwing photo that I took last year was a disappointment! They are just never in focus! That one is cute though!
Here is my most disappointing photo of the day. I've been trying and trying to get a good one of this Solitary Vireo who isn't so solitary as I have a pair of them visiting! Anyway, this one flew right up to me to check me out, and all I got was this lousy photo.
Hey that's not bad...you can tell what it is!! lol
Nanny, that really is a shame. It would have been a beauty.
LOL..Resin at the walking out of the shot!
Nanny, you cracked me up! If only I could accept "you can tell what it is" as my photo criteria, I'd be such a happy person!
Resin, nice rear shot of the Black-headed! As for the other one, I have soooo many shots where the subject was just too far away. A hawk shot from the other day comes to mind-- I should post that one.
He landed right above me when I didn't have my camera. When I came back with it, he was just too far away. Can you even find him?!
Yep! Sharp-shin or Cooper's. Nice pine! Loblolly Pine, I guess.
Resin
Well he is there as plain as day Elphaba!
Plain as day! LOL! Definitely a Loblolly Pine - amazing that you can tell by this photo!
Well, it passes the "you can tell what it is" test! Almost a really cool shot with both in the same frame like that.
I am gonna end up eating those words..I just know it! lol
I think this is the same hawk in the other photo, but then I always think it's the same one whether it is or not! It landed in another Loblolly this morning much closer this time with the sun in its face. I was sure the pictures would turn out. I'm so mad. The only one that isn't super blurry is one like the one above where I didn't zoom very much, so annoying. I need a tripod!
At least you can tell what it is! LOL! --or at least Resin can! It seemed to be too large to be a Sharp-shinned. It does have the tail of a Cooper's, but doesn't the chest coloring suggest a Red-shouldered or a Broad-winged?
Yep, that one is an adult Cooper's - the tail is too long for a Buteo (Red-shouldered, Broad-winged, etc.), and the eye is red (brown on Buteo species).
Resin
I just wrote that info about the eyes in my book! That's so helpful. Thanks!
That's so cute! You have very high standards Mrs. Ed!
That's exactly what I was thinking. I thought "well what's wrong with that".
you did NOT margaret!
I really only need for a photo to be in sharp focus! Especially when I've spent $$ on a good camera! User error I guess!
Yeah, Mrs. Ed, I'd love to get a picture of a BLue Jay like that one. But I understand what your saying, I feel the same way. You spend all that money on a camera and it's suppose to take perfectly focused pics all the time...maybe even read your mind. That's not asking for much, is it? ;))
Right, reading my mind would be nice. especially if it is wireless! Just took about 5 pix of a white-throated sparrow that were "supposed" to be in focus. NOPE!
Rotflmbfbo Mrs Ed. I really was thinking that. Brownie's honour (did I tell you I was thrown out of the brownies?).
ha! No, you didn't. OMG, I can hardly wait for this story.
Ruh-oh
ahhh..how did it do that!!!????? lol
I have Norway rats too -- outside only! I think they are kind of cute, but I do wish I could figure out how to get rid of them. They eat my flowers. The other day I saw this little rat, and it stopped under the iron plant and watched me. I started talking to it, and it sat up, holding its little paws up and cocked its head listening to me. I told him to go live at the vacant house on the corner. I swear he said that he liked the bird seed, berries and flowers in my yard better.
I knew this shot wouldn't come out because it's so cloudy, but still fun -- Blue Jay washing his face.
Elphaba, that is EXACTLY what my darn chippies say to me when I tell them to go live over in the woods with the other chippies!! LOL
haha. "look ma, no wings"
Wow...In my book that's a keeper!! Chris Angel Mindfreak!!
Pelle...that's a cute shot!
LOL..Nanny!!
Pelle, I love that almost award-winning shot!
Nanny, so close and yet so headless.
Pretty much every picture I took today could be posted on this thread. I was so excited when a Blue-headed Vireo and a Black-throated Green Warbler came down to the pond together. I took about half a dozen lousy photos.
That looks pretty good compared to my BTW shots!
I think I have cornered the headless market!!
that is a neat shot Pelle.... not a miss at all
