Daily Pics - Vol. 146

South Hamilton, MA

The dead birch that the pileated liked to visit fell over on its own last month--I hope that it doesn't mean that it will now stay in the woods.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

What a treat Rose for you rose on the pileated! I sure would like to get some redpolls here.

Have to look thru the pics for something besides a Yellow-rumped Warbler!! lol

The Buntings are pretty well protected, unless they panic and fly into the open. This one left empty-taloned.

Here's one of Nanny's ruby crowned kinglets. Sorry about the quality, it was getting dark ...... Mrs Ed, Isn't that a Warbler?

Yep, 1st-winter Yellow-rumped Warbler
Quoting:
I would guess pigeons

Yep. Probably racing pigeons on a race.

Everyone is really busy. Having a difficult time looking at all of the great photos.

I saw a few Bald Eagles on Saturday but was disappointed overall. The numbers should be picking up in a few weeks.
Here is probably the best photo that I was able to take ..... an immature Bald Eagle, in-flight.

Beautiful photos!
Linth, gorgeous! I like the second one!
GP, what lovely little ones you have. You should be Queen of the Buntings.
Adel, I just love those finches. Can't wait for them to get here!

This is not a gorgeous photo, but I thought it was kind of fun -- a Solitary (or Blue-headed) Vireo.

Gardenpom, do you know what kind of hawk that was? I think I saw one like it today....

Quoting:
A young drake or a crossbreed?

A young drake, or (if an adult) one that is later than the others in coming out of 'eclipse' (drab late-summer plumage)
