How can I help my coleuses continue their life even though they are annuals? If reseeding is the answer, how do I go about doing that?
Reseeding Coleus
Most of the experienced people who love coleus are on the coleus forum. You'll get far more responses there than here.
Thank you so very much for your guidance. :-)
Although in places with cold winters coleus is treated as an annual, I think coleus is actually a tender perennial. You are very lucky to be living in California.
It reseeds itself in my gardens every year. Some are more prone to flowering and seeding than others.
They are tender perennials, but where I am they still die over the winter--Palo Alto is a little warmer than here in the winter but I'm not sure if they'd survive or not. The ones I've grown have never bloomed and gone to seed. And if you have one with fancy colored leaves the seeds won't necessarily come true, so if you want to be sure your plants will look like the originals it's best to do cuttings instead.
