nutsfordaylily, Sorry, Castleton is in England, Peak District.
I like the war memorial picture.
Fall Photos.....let's share. Part 2
If anyone is interested in seeing the shots I got of the helicopter loading cranberry crates onto a truck at my neighbor's yesterday, I posted them here:

There are also some nice fall colors in those pics.

Well, it is in the British Isles. I'd love to go there. Very pretty. I have been to London back in the 80's.

I got to do two trips, 35 and 45 day respectively. I'm a UK history major.
Oh, nice! I would love to go to anywhere in the British Isles. I just love to travel.

I'd love to go back. My DH and I plan to go for a late honeymoon when we can afford it; he's never been.
Snow already, Allison? Bummer! I don't want to see snow yet.

Wow! I have a friend who is from NJ. She has lived in Florida for many years and is now in Germany, as her husband is military, and they are stationed there. She doesn't like Florida. Can't stand the heat. Loves cold weather and snow. I'm all set!

I need to a change of seasons.
Me, too, Jo Ann. I like to watch the seasons change ~ OK, from indoors!! As long as I am at 72 degrees, everything else can do what it wants!
That is awesome, Jen! I am considering planting a pear in the fields behind my house when no one is looking (I don't own that land)!!
Very nice, Jen!
Very pretty, Jen! is that one of those Bradford pears? I have a Bradford pair seedling in a pot, but I don't know where to plant it. I know some trees I'd love to take down to make room for others that I like better, but I don't have the money to hire someone to do it. Hey, if anyone wants to come a cut down for firewood, have at it!
Karen
As far as I know it's a bradford. If you're going to plant it plant it as far away from any buildings as possible, haven't heard any good things about them. They only last about 25/30 yrs, I've read if you keep them properly pruned it may help.
Well, I was planning to put it on the edge of the property somewhere, and that would be far from the house. Yes, I have heard that Bradford pears are very weak and have a tendency to split down the middle. I have seem many become uprooted very easily, too. They seem to be very shallow-rooted.

Yeah, it was fun digging holes for my shade garden.... ugh another root, move over 2 inches.....next hole, ugh another root...repeat process, drove me crazy. I didn't want to build up the soil too much since that's not good for any tree.
Love the pear tree Jen!!
Great maple, Bev. Nice colors on that.
