Fall Photos.....let's share. Part 2

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Karen sorry to hear about the ring... and the yucky day..... but glad you guys had a good time otherwise

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Amazing shots - my favorite are Sleepy Hollow Farm and the aerial view. I am shocked at the news of your car. Were you aware of the recall??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nice shots...I Love hot air balloons!
So sorry about your truck but thankful no one was injured!!!

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. DH was aware of the recall but he ignored it (grrrr). We didn't drive it much - just to the dump and trips to garden centers to load up on plants or compost. Oh well. Live and learn right? I have a few more good pics I found that ill post later

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

The guy from Aerosmith would be Joe Perry.

Not sure which of ALL these photos are the best, can we have a 40-way tie??

I have to say, that aerial view from the balloon is awesome!

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Willie - thank you for sharing the name I couldn't think of. That definitely sounds right.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I really think the tree top shot should be entered in the photo contest...it lovely!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

You are most welcome, SoJ!

I think Aerosmith was the first live rock concert I ever attended. I was like 12, and my parents thought the big brother was babysitting me all day. If they had only known .....

I believe it was the Fourth of July, 1978, with the Stones headlining at what was then Rich Stadium (where the Buffalo Bills play). I think .......

If it wasn't that concert, it was a Kiss concert in Rochester that was first. I used to keep all my ticket stubs taped to the bedroom wall ..... until ...... the great fire of '88! Well, it was really a small house fire which burnt the bedroom. (my brother and I shared the upstairs bedroom as kids).

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Amazing stories, all.
Sorry about the truck.
Lovely photos from the balloon, too.
Poor dad! Losing the ring, AND getting sick.
Life certainly has its ups and downs.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

So glad the truck wasn't in a garage.
HAB's are awesome. I love the whoosh sound as they pass overhead.
Sorry about dad's ring and the sickies. Hope he's feeling better.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

SongsOfJoy - Holy crap, what a day you had. I had no idea a car could spontaneously ignite! Luckily I don't have that truck :) Fantastic views though.

Almost all the leaves on the red and striped maples are gone. But the winter winds haven't arrived yet so they are still directly below the trees. Between the leaves and not mowing for over a month, poor husband doesn't get very far on the rechargeable electric mower :)

Hope you're all enjoying the weather.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for all the condolences on Dad. He is feeling much better, but had the runs for about 4 days straight. Had to go to the doc twice. My sister and I had to keep him home from his day program all week, and we both missed some work over that. Glad things are finally back to normal.

Bummer about that fire that destroyed your bedroom, Willie, but I guess you guys were lucky the whole house didn't burn down.

Songs, back when I was married my husband and I had a piece of junk Mercury Lynx LS, I don't remember what year. Anyhow, he was driving home from work one night and the car caught on fire. He had to pull it over. There was actually a fire station nearby, but the car burnt to a crisp. We had been having trouble with something leaking, which I think was the power steering fluid. Anyhow, that was the end of that car. Soon after that we got another piece of junk, a Ford Pinto, and that one was a real oil burner. No fires, though, thank God.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Glad to hear he's feeling better, Karen.

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

I am still in shock that the truck just spontaneously ignited. We hadn't even driven it for about a week before it happened!! But I have to say - even though I am disappointed over the loss (we took all but liability insurance off the truck shortly before this happened because we weren't driving it much), I am FAR more grateful that the truck was parked at the end of the driveway not up against the house like it normally is (or worse, in the garage). I am also grateful that a jogger noticed it before the nearby trees caught fire. Our neighbor got some pictures - it was quite a blaze by the time the fire department got there so any longer and it would have done some real damage to the landscaping!

Anyway - here's another fall photo. This was taken on the way home from Lake Placid. I don't know if it was in NY, VT or NH...but I thought it was pretty.

Oh my , good thing you weren't in the truck or it wasn't anywhere where anything else caught fire. Wow, great pics, though and glad you had a good time.
Karen-good to hear your dad's feeling better, I had that in the begining of the year and is totally NOT fun.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Victor and flowerjen. You're right, it's definitely not fun.

Songs, that is a stunning picture. Very nice.

Well, a couple weeks ago I went to a corn maze at Nessralla Farm here is good old Halifax with my Dad and friend Connie. It turned out to be a beautiful day. We would have gotten totally lost if we hadn't found someone who was great at reading maps, and he led us and some other lost people out of the maze with no problem whatsoever. Anyhow, I just went nuts taking pics there, as they had such a great display of mums, pumpkins, etc. Here are some from there.

Karen

I love the way they scarred this pumpkin with their farm name on it.

Here we are at the beginning of the corn maze. There were some nice mums and hay bale at our feet, but the woman taking the photo didn't get them in.
