Slidell, LA

I have these types of holes all over my yard lately. there are no mounds, just these holes which look like they connect to each other. Any ideas?

Have you lived in LA long. They look like armadillo holes where its been looking for grubs.

Yep, Armadillo is what the look like.

Yeah I've lived here most of my life. I didn't figure armadillos because they usually go through my flower beds and toss everything around and this time they're just diggin holes. OK then how do i get rid of the wee beasties? My chihuahua is no where near as effective as my big mutt used to be.

My extremely persistent mini-dachshund finally got them to move out of the main yard(most of the time). I don't think there is a way to get completely rid of them as they eat worms and grubs wherever they can easily get them (our lovely lawns and gardens). I sure hope someone here at Dave's knows the trick to it.

I had to laugh about the holes in the yard. I was planting a few bedding plants the other day and dug holes first to get things started and then I could go back and drop the plants in and then come back and push the dirt around the roots. I got just so far with the holes and dropping in the plants and then had to come in the house. Later I went back out and lo and behold there were more holes than I had dug but they were nicely dug. Couldn't figure it out.
Ah-Hah! I dug a little deeper in one of the holes and there was an acorn. My friendly neighborhood squirrels decided to store some winter food in my garden. Scoundrels!!

I thought Armadillo's were the size of beagl es on short legs, not rats! Where the heck have I been???

We had armadillos so bad at our other house that we had to resort to putting down poison to kill the grubs so the armadillos would leave. Once the grubs are gone, there's nothing for them to feed on and they leave voluntarily. Home Depot or Lowe's should have what you need. We had a young one get in our yard here and my golden retriever and Heinz 57 got it cornered behind the electric fence in the flowerbed. By the time DH figured out what all the barking was about and rescued it, it was scared out of its mind. He shut the dogs in the shop long enough for it to get away--we've NEVER seen it again, LOL!
