I need ID help on this one...

Monroe, LA

This is a small bush about 3'x3', of soft wood. The blooms, 5-8 of them, dangle like small bells along the stem. They are tubular, and about 3/8" across with 5 deeply cut petals. They look like purple velvet edged in lavender. The leaves are serrated, and pinnately veined. Any help appreciated.

I have seen a plant in a hanging basket that looked sort of like your plant. I think the name was Tijarenia or something like that. You might do a google search and see what you come up with. It is a real pretty plant.

Okay I think I found it here at Dave's.

I could be wrong, but the flowers don't look like torenias to me; however, I don't have any other suggestion to offer.

I don't think they are torenias either. Their name escapes my at the moment but if you post this on the plant ID forum you will have an answer before you blink. The folks that hang around over there are pretty sharp.
