I want to use Lily-of-theValley in a planter setting next spring but I want it to be 'ready' early. I have a coldroom that stay above freezing. Thinking that I will wait til it goes dormant outside, pot it in 6" pots and bring them up to the 50*area in Febuary so they are ready to bloom in April. Any thoughts?
sry for mispell@title
I also want to force Callalilies for the same bed Any suggestions?

anyone ever forced Lily-of-the-Valley?
I did a search and yes Lily of the Valley can be forced. Bloom time is only about a week so don't really know if it will be suitable for what you plan. May try it myself for indoors.
I entered 'forcing Lily of the Valley' in the Google search and came up with lots of hits. Try it and see what you come up with. You can do the same for Calla Lillies, I did not try that one.
Good luck, wishing both of us a mild winter, most of my plants are already frost damaged.
I do this every year, but as mentioned by the previous member, this only adds a few weeks time wise (earlier) I bring some pots of Lily-of the Vally into the house for perfume,
I bring them indoors around November, keep them watered and in good light but not direct sun and by Easter they are full bloom (Easter is earlier here UK) as for Calla, never tried it, I know you can bye them out of season in the florists etc, but these are normally treated with hormones etc to alter there growth rate and dont always grow well when set outdoors due to this treatment, but I would imagine you could grow them in pots also, keep inside say from mid winter and you could get a few weeks ahead of outdoor plants, there is certain things you can do to change nature, but plants/ bulbs.tubers etc normally know best and wont flower too early out of season with a few exceptions like this years weather patterns all over the world, try looking in your library for books on how to bring on bulbs etc for earlier flowering, there are things like Hyacinths specially bread for indoor early flowering. good luck. Thanks for the info surreybrit let me know if you want to know where this application is going it's prime viewing in mpls tess_stearns@yahoo.com tess
