Just running numbers here; there are 7,000+ subscribers to DG. Rather than get stuck holding DG mugs let's figure roughly 10% would buy one, = 720 mugs. About $3K would need laid out to get the mugs delivered for sale. That represents $4.16 per mug (break even) plus shipping to whomever buys one. So a mug could be in my home for around $10 each. Perhaps $25 - 30 for a set of four.
I'd hate to lay out 8K for 2500 mugs and have to sit on 1500 of them for a few years.
A Dave's Garden ball cap please...
Uhhh, I'm not sure that a co-op wil work, but I do know that you can order those mugs--usually as few as 72 or 144 at a time. The price is a bit more, but you're not likely to sell 2000 mugs anytime soon, so you'd have to factor in your "inventory" cost to store them.
I agree, Terry. I just might do that for our RU.
Well, I definitely would not have the storage space for it, so the smaller qty sounds good.
Agreed... I clicked on the site and discovered that there was about a 90 cent difference between ordering 144 mugs and ordering 2520... I'd definitely suggest selling fewer of them for a dollar more!
...but before anyone decides to take this upon themselves, we need to dig a little deeper. There are some legal issues that surround authorizing the use of the DG logo, especially on items being re-sold (whether for profit or at cost.)
Absolutely! Good reminder. :-)
Thanks Terry for being there for us on this.
