A Dave's Garden ball cap please...

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I wear hats All the time have very frizzy hair and live in the steamy south. Most days I tuck my mop under a cap with a ponytail out the back and go about my day wether I'm in the garden or out shopping.
I see that there is a trucker hat for sale but its just a bit to masculine for me. I love ball caps and own a thousand of them but sadly not one for Dave's Garden. Could we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! have a ball cap!!!!
Here are the boys and I on a trip to Moody Gardens. I had 2 people stop and ask me about my garden club had that day.
Begging!!

I think you can go to Zazzle and create any DG logo item you want..they have lots of ball caps and t-shirts to choose from.

I've asked them about offering a flowerpot mug, and they gave me the polite brushoff ("we'll take your suggestion under advisement" kind of reply ;o)

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Looks like they only offer trucker hats to create a logo on unless Im looking at it wrong??

Unfortunately Zazzle only offers "trucker hats". Alas, as I'd love to be able to buy a nice fabric DG baseball cap for myself.

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

Me too!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Well, I see that Zazzle has patches . . . how about a DG patch that we can put on a hat, or whatever else we want?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

A hat would be cool..I wear a baseball hat everyday!! :)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Do you have some sort of special arrangement with 'Zazzles' that you're prohibited from getting these elsewhere?

I know just from ordering promotional items for my company, that there are LOTS of vendors out there who'd love to have your business.

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

That would be great Nan, I hope Dave thinks so too!!

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

How about a DG shop on cafepress.com?

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

Hre is the thread when Dave announced he was no longer shipping! and set up the Zazzle items. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/720660/

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't think there's anything exclusive about our arrangement with Zazzle. I know Dave had some concerns about Cafepress.com's quality, but those may have been overcome.

But I will say I am a little disappointed by some of the raunchy stuff that Cafepress frequently showcases on their homepage, and I'd be a little embarrassed to steer our members to them unless we could direct them to a DG "store" and bypass the main page. I just wish Zazzle would offer a flowerpot mug. That would be the bee's knees ;o)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

I get it now....the key words are *we don't want to ship!*
(And I certainly can't blame anyone for that!)

Is there a link that we can send feedback to regarding items offered at Zazzle? Maybe if enough of us sent requests for the flowerpot mug and a different style hat/cap, they'll oblige?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Nan, I sent a note to their customer service and got the polite "thanks for the suggestion" response. You're welcome to try, too, and maybe if enough people ask, they'll decide it's worth it.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

OK...I'll do it!
Never hurts to try!

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

OK...I did it!

For the convenience of anyone else who wants to contact them to urge them to offer a cotton ball cap and the flowerpot style coffee mug:

Here's their contact info page:

And here's the reference to the Dave's Garden store.

I sent a message, too. Told them no one I know wears trucker hats. Got the 'canned' response. :-(

Just had a thought - what about a co-op? Same with the coffee mugs. Bet there would be lots of people wanting both.

I would be interested in a co-op are you offering to head one up?? :)

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I'll tell you what - I am up to my eyeballs in PTA and PTSA stuff. May be in January, I can look into it and see what the cost might be. I think cap, mug and a gardening apron! ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

If you do a co-op, could the international members please be included? I for one will pay the extra shipping and I would luv a DG coffee mug. Thanks.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

That sounds really good...but I'm imagining all the packing and shipping involved.....whew! Sounds like a LOT of work!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Maybe if there is enough interest there could be regional co-ops. I would volunteer to do the Canadian one. I know nothing about doing a co-op though so I would have to learn.

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I did a quick search for the flower pot mug... Terry is this what you had in mind? http://www.4imprint.com/Flower-Pot-Mug/EXEC/DETAIL/SEARCH/~SKU001845/~CA1845.htm

Also if we were to do this would we have access to the Dave's Garden logo? I'm sure we would need some kind of permission to use it right?

I would have no problem helping with a Co-op but can't head one up right now.

That's the one I saw, too, Heavinscent. Couldn't get to the shipping charges without registering. Since the packaging and shipping would be difficult, as Dave discovered, what about shipping to regional RUs? I would be glad to distribute them at our RU in March or hold them for pick-up. Would this work, Dave? DG would be out of the shipping loop that way, just take orders and when there are enough, have the dealer ship to the location. There's such a demand for those cups, and I bet there would be for the ball caps, too.

No, I don't think it makes sense for me to do a co-op from the West Coast - the shipping would be very high for most and the longer the distance, the more chance of breakage unless each one is padded like a baby! It's better for the supplier to be on the hook for breakage, isn't it?

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Hey, I have an account with them!

That is just like the last one Dave offered!

We ordered....coffee mugs with our church Centennial logo. The shipping cost was a killer...the mugs were nice, though.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Good idea KaperC. I could get mine through the RM Roundup (aka DGB Sale & Gathering). I bet that would work great for alot of us. oops just realized I'm volunteering a Denverite. Better check first.

The company has a good rep as far as I could tell from googling. Anyone who lives near Oshkosh, check out their job offerings - they are listed as one of the 50 best places to work. Also, they have UK and Canada locations, which would be good for our distant members.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

2,520 mugs @ $2.69 = $6778.00 includes one color.
Additional color charge (so logo will be pink and green) adds $957.60.
Screen charge/2 colors @ $50 per color adds $100.00

Shipping is $986.20 to ONE location.

Grand total: $8821.80 = $3.50 per mug COST before shipping.

Forgot to mention - when I ordered mugs from them, they shipped from Factory in Ohio - we asked if we could pick them up in Oshkosh due to shipping cost. - no go - didn't ask, though, if we could pick them up in Ohio!

Crikey! I was thinking of a couple hundred! LOL

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

That's crazy. Are they shipping from China?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Two thousand mugs weight a lot! One site gave a shipping weight of two pounds.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

lol!! I know!

The 'standard' mugs were less than a dollar each. These are *special*, however!

They are VERY HEAVY - there were 24 in a box of the standard size mug...and these are oversized, so they'd be even heavier!

I've had to lug a few boxes to various locations, so I can tell you they're heavy little buggers!

If you could find someone to pick them up in Ohio (if that's where this mug's manufacturer is....or *wheverever* this mugs' manufacturer might be....and you could talk them into letting someone pick them up....that would lessen the cost by a lot.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That would be a lot of mugs to ask anybody to undertake as a co-op. But perhaps some enterprising soul could contact Dave for permission to sell these on the marketplace at a modest profit -- maybe price them at $5.50 or $6 per mug plus shipping. I'm thinking at least 4 would fit in a shoebox type flat rate box, so if people got together on their orders then shipping would only add a couple extra dollars.

I know I've paid $12 for a souvenir mug before, so the above prices still seem OK to me... If you find somebody willing to screen print just a couple hundred mugs at a time, the price is probably going to be higher per mug anyway.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Great idea for an enterprising mind with some extra cash!

Here's another vendor, btw....price break (must call) for more than 1008.

http://www.customglassware.com/imprinted_glassware_17.htm

I've never ordered from them before.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yes, you'd need extra cash to invest in the project -- and you'd need space to store 2520 mugs etc! But I thought it might be worth floating the idea... it would take a lot of time, but in the end you'd have $5K profit... I don't think you'd have any trouble selling the mugs. Does anybody remember what the DG mugs cost several years ago when Dave did them?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Marketplace might be a good idea. I look at it as a souvenir type thing, too, Critter, and would pay $6 for one. That's why I thought a smaller order sent to a RU location might work. None of the repacking mess and extra shipping cost, but a little higher cost. Did the other mugs have two colors or just one? That would be another savings.

From one of the reviews, it sounds like they go overboard on shipping care.

Oops, cross posted. If someone did want to sell them on marketplace, they could resell boxes of them to the RUs, cutting out extra packaging.

The other mugs were $5 plus shipping, and I think that was when Priority mail was still $3.50 or $3.80.

The mugs I purchased were shipped in a standard cardboard carton that had little 'slots'...kind of like egg cartons, for each mug with cardboard between each stack (2 or 3) of mugs. I didn't consider it 'overboard'....broken mugs = unhappy customers!

Forgot (again!) to add that you're right about needing room for storage...we only ordered 288 mugs and we had 7 or 8 (can't recall, offhand) boxes that take up a lot of room. So we're talking that X 10! 70 or 80 (or more!) boxes! Whew!

I'd bet someone would do it after some thought!

Marketplace is a great idea if someone was willing to do all the work cuz geez that is alot of work. I never thought about the weight but they are substantial so it makes sense. I think alot of us would pay the price to have a DG flowerpot mug so I'm sure there would be value for both buyer and seller.
