If I could only grow 2 or 3 MGs, this Fuji Shibori would be one of them. With the sun shining through this bloom, it really makes those deep purple spots really pop! No pollen in this one either as you can see the brown anthers. I hope that changes once the weather dries up. Too much rain lately.

And this is another LYK 2nd generation. This looks like it was a cross between LYK and Mini Bar Rose. The seeds came from LYK. I had to cross pollinate that vine with other blooms from various vines growing in my yard. This vine is growing on the right side of my arbor. And LYK crossed with Kohkan is growing on the left side of my arbor. Both vines are growing with Moonflower vines! That should look really pretty when all vines cover my arbor and are blooming! :-)
P. Bush (two flowers), Becky, sorry it has taken me so long... here is a photo of two flowers from two separate vines (both seeds from P. Bush), each vine was consistent with their blooms, but, P. Bush is not consistent in itself.. I don't know if that makes sense, but, the one you have could very well be producing flowers that are different than these too. I don't believe it was ever stablized. so, what you have is a consistent flower of one seed from these. I hope I make some sense here.
Patootie, nice flower there..
Becky, you have some nice lookers..
A.
Fuji SHibori is a good one to grow out... The first flowers on mine did not have good pollen in 2007, so maybe you will get some later on. Keep on fertilizing and you will get tons of flowers.. I can hardly wait till next season to start some seeds for 2009... All these photos are from 2007.. this one had stripes on it and a couple others did too, but I don't think I saved the photos.
Becky the Q0426 come from Joseph ? very nice blue !
hand pollinisation , you can see the grain of pollen when they are in quantity but sometime you don't see anything but perhaps there is some grain of pollen ??? 6 seeds in a pod so you theoretically need only 6 grains of pollen .
They need dry atmosphere to become mature ,but are " fertile " a long time ?
Gourd the tancho bloom is purpurea size ?
this pic is it tancho ?
Thank you Becky. Your blooms are all beautiful. I love the Hanafubuki and
Blue Blizzard.
A thanks for sending these pics. I couldn't remember the exact color of your Pres Bush blooms. The color on mine is a little different. I love all the variations.
Nice striping on your Fuji Shibori.
The color of your Tancho not reminds me of my Yaguruma blizzard.
lovely blooms every one... i especially like becky's chocolate tie die and gourds p bush...
All of you have such beautiful blooms!! Mine are all going down hill now.
I know I haven't had anything named Kaleidoscope, so I don't think it's one of mine....
Hmm...I really need to keep better records.
kwanjin - The Kaleidoscope is one that I named from a Fall 2007 seed from Yaguruma Blizzard. The full name is Lady Yaguruma's Kaleidoscope. More info about LYK can be found in these 2 threads:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/830252/
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/853377/
Did you get some seeds for LYK?
Antoinette - THANKS! for posting your President Bush blooms. Well ... whatever mine is, it is VERY consistent in bloom shape, star pattern, size, and color. I do like it a lot! But was trying to figure out where the characteristics of the bloom came from. The blooms are large (4-5") and the first to open every morning.
And your Heian Umi looks very much like mine, but mine has a lot of pink in the center and a thin white border that shows up off and on. (Saw some blizzard markings on one of the earlier blooms.)
Your Fuji Shibori looks so pretty with the stripes! Mine has been consistently spotted. I LOVE it!!!!
Thanks Ceej! I am trying to get this one to pollinate. So far, very little pollen if any that I can see. I hate having to cross it to even get seeds. This is one I would really like to get true seeds from. So far even with trying to cross it, I've had NO luck getting one single seed pod to form yet. All turn yellow and drop off the vine.
dany12 - The Q0426 came from Arlan. I don't know where he got the seeds from. A university possibly?
I am noticing something interesting with my Yaguruma Blizzard and Lady Yaguruma's Kaleidoscope seeds ... whatever cultivar that they are crossed with, they seem to mimic many details of the pollen plant except for size. The size seems to be more consistent with the Yaguruma (Youjiro) characteristic. But I am just not seeing the blizzard or blue on any of them unless it appears to be a true seed (self-pollinated). Maybe I will see more LYK or YB characteristics as the vine ages.
Becky - The youjiro and the leaves would strongly indicate that this plant here

is likely a

type,going 'blizzeark'...(!)
This photo
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5645558
shows the same background color of this particular blizzard...the blizzards can produce different looking flowers, but the background color of the blizzard is what is consistent in this case...unless the blizzard produces flowers which are very dilute...sometimes solids and Rays are also 'thrown'...
Compare the photo here

with the "Heian Umi" as entered in the PlantFiles
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/81263/
Asuka
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/123744/
has produced very similar looking blooms
Akatsuki no Umi
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/185836/
is a blue flower and a different cultivar
Dany - Tancho is a Yamato-Noen product
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5056972
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=1759902
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5647828
Produces the same basic type of flower as
Akasuki no Hikari - A Sakata product
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/127321/
and
Kaori - A Takii product
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/51673/
and
Oreheme - from a smaller distributor
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/163382/
The white blooms with the relatively small lavender throat area are likely to be slight variations of the same cultivar as offered by different companies...
Hope that helps...

Joseph, just love your Shiborazaki !
Joseph, I only grew Blue Star one time many yrs ago. I don't recall what mine looked like but I know it could not have been as lovely as your vine or I would have been growing it every yr. Love the Wedding Bells.
Thanks, Jackie! With the cooler temperatures of fall the vines of both strains are making more and more flowers. Each one opens perfectly. I need to try Heavenly Blue and Flying Saucers again. I am hoping Wedding Bells makes some seeds cuz I sowed all of the ones I had in my packet (thanks to Emma from a years ago trade for both Blue Star and Wedding Bells).
Joseph
Joseph,
This Ipomoea tricolor "Blue Star"
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/Gerris2_1223642770_643.jpg
is approaching the lost / MIA "Summer Skies" in coloration...if that spotting along the primary folds were to continue to fade...it would be "Summer Skies" and the right color...which is not the same basic color as a light or dilute Heavenly Blue...
Please continue to select for flowers which have less spotting along the primary folds...
TTY,...
Ron
