Elfs at work
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #63 visit with friends...
Not sure if you remember me telling you that Roger and I had a tradition..I made a red velvet santa suit and purchased a commercial beard set (over the years most likely 3 or 4 of them) lol..they do get yukky...and we'd be organized with christmas doing on Christmas eve early enought that I'd dress in a elf costume and Roger would be santa...we'd travel for hours visiting friends, neighbors and sometimes just knocking a people's doors and would go near the children fast asleep with our polaroid camera so that in the morning parents could show their children that santa did infact visit...well since Roger's death Greg has been doing much the same...so there sitting was a Mrs. Santa outfit OMG think it was close to $599. hmmmm so took a photo, next week I'll go back to where I found velvet for $6.99 a yard and will make me one...in fact the white apron I can do a better job..my embroidery machine has a Christmas disk and I'll do specialty embroidering....then perhaps Melanie can join Greg as Mrs. Santa...also, can't have a Mrs. Santa with dark hair so one of my purchases was a Mrs. Santa wig with a bun in the back...I'm excited..yet another project...
Will be back later with photo's of my 'treasures'...lol
Gotta love my pic-I ha just been falling asleep and that is such NOT a lovely pic!!LOL Oh well, the rest of the pics are great!! I WANT that gimongo snowman!!
Wow, Looks like you all had a very nice visit. Bonners is such a huge store, and all of Frankenmouth would take a week to go through properly!
Glad you all finally met each other, and a good visit.
LInda Kay
What did you end up purchasing Stacey???
Now what did I get...
My main Christmas tree is done in silver and try for the Victorian look...so, ended up with a set of 35 crystal type lights...3 crystal icycles and a dimentional snowflake..haven't a clue which branch has nothing on it but I'll find a place...lol
Linda Kay, how right you are and wonder if a week would do, we never even made it to any shops on main street..already Suzanne and Rita are planning another weekend (3 day) trip..lol..
Good Morning!!
Oh Betty, Wow, what a wonderful place to visit.
I could see why it would take 3 days...LOL, you must of hated to drive home after a tease.
....your Angel is a beauty!
Hiya Fairy...I am so glad you and Betty and everyone had such a wonderful day.
...Waving hello to all, I am out in the yard today...What a glorious fall day!
Did get myself a beautiful 2' angel..with painted gown..still in the car along with my outfits...going to have a bite to eat then will bring them in and I'll show you how pretty they are...
Caleb called while I was away "Grandma Betty, just thought I'd call to see how you are doing with our Halloween costumes, you didn't forget now did you?'
Called them back this morning but Jeff said they had a late night and were both sleeping..Braedon plays hockey at 11:00 ..said he'd have them call when they got back in...
Guess this means I'd better finish the 'Bridegroom that has risen from the dead' not looking forward to sewing those almost real like warms though...yuk...
I am posting pics on Sweet Interuptions Betty:)
I forgot to ask-is the feeder spar varnished already??
I got 2 candle holders , 2 ornaments for me and severl gift ornametns-will have to get a pic of the ones I can show-can't show all of them;)
Yes, birdfeeder is ready to hang for those winter birdies...sounds as though not only Stacey did you get good ideas but you got some 'pretties' as well...
Judy it is a gorgeous day for outside work, NOT that I wanted to do outside work but Kathy came over as I told her I had a gift for her..2 more colorfull bracelets for her watch, blue and another in green..and a black/white one for me...said she came to help me bring everything in for the winter that needed brought in, nope, wasn't in my plans but she didn't take maybe next weekend at all, soooo just got in, tired and sore back..some heavy lifting..omg Carol how do you ever do all of yours, can't imagine..I did leave a few more pieces out..the sunflower door, chair set on the front lawn and everything on front deck..once Halloween comes, I'll store them for the winter...
Went to get turnip for turkey supper and stopped into the post office and in my box was a card saying I had a parcel..first thing I said was "please Lord may it be the Victorian Santa HAIR!" so Kathy took it and will go the the post office tomorrow to pick it up...
Here's my pretty angel..I just might keep her out, she's dressed warmly, not overly Christmas so why not enjoy her
Thanks for the super pics, Betty, although I could have done without the one in my pj's. and new haircut.
It was so good to meet you'all and glad you got home OK even if late at night.
I spwnt too much but got some Christmas shopping done so that makes a dent in the list. Clothes for me and some soft, soft socks!
Your feet must have been sore after all that walking for 2 days, know mine were, infact, had to drive barefoot .. although I drove pretty well the entire way there, coming home from Frankenmuth to 50 miles before London, Ontario then the 2 girls took turns so I rested my footies and had about 1 hr. nap...next time, wearing the worse looking shoes I can find, leave room for expansion..lol...
Mom just called Sharon was home for a few days and now back in the hospital on morphine drip...not good..said she called the hospital but Sharon was too out of it to talk so I'll wait till after supper and try to call...I just hate that I live 100 miles from her...she has talked that when her girls are finished school and on their own she'll move closer to here..that would be wonderful as I know her back will not improve with time and will need someone nearby...
Greg just arrived with the Foxy Lady, I only took her out maybe 3 times this summer, either the weather didn't co-operate or I was busy...he spent the morning shrink wrapping her now comes the job to take her off the trailer..they are working outside, me I'm keeping busy...Greg said I'd only hear one big bang when he drops her off the trailer..do hope he's kidding..
Well Good evening all,
Oh Betty, Your new angel is beautiful!! LOL, I am tired too...Victorian Santa Robe turned out real nice. I even decied to go ahead and gather all the pieces.
Was such a lovely day sat in my chair during little breaks. Enjoy the crispness of the air. Yesterday spent a good part of day raking leaves...For some reason i just love this chore...While I was doing that, I was making a mental note on how and where I am going to add some fencing, really hate to but man I think its the only way to keep the deer and other critters from eating everything.
A very nice observation though, my baby rose look really good.
Wondering where everyone is...Must be enjoying the weather and chores too.
Well, I guess I'll go make some dinner, Shepards pie tonight!
I cooked turkey Judy and haven't even eaten yet..was going to sit down earlier and you know me, got side tracked...
Worked some on Braedon's costume, did the cumber (???) bun (is that what they call it???) hated like ..... to cut that beautiful suit...but did...he wants it tattered...
Not sure if I had Javex, everytime I don't want to damage my clothes, I do..watch, I'll try and get the javex to eat holes in the shirt jacket and pants and it won't work...
Should do that before I call it a day..coming close to the weekend ending...never stopped for 2 secs. today..lots accomplished...made a banana cream pie, Greg finishes the boat, says he's dying for a piece, I tell him it's not set yet, he thinks it is, I cut him a piece and lo and behold who was right...on a place he had crust and surrounding it was pudding...no, it wasn't set!! love it when I'm right...he looked tired as well..he put his pool down, spend 2 games at the hockey arena with Noah, cleaned up the debris from cutting not 1, not 2 but many branches from my tree so that the boat could be set into that location..next year think it will be housed at the marina...less work for Greg..
Greg and Kelly left so quickly that I didn't even get to thank his friend who is Greg's age, he lost his wife 13 years ago at 28 of breast cancer...
All his friends included Greg do walks/snowmobile fund raisers, b.b.q's to raise money for Kelly...infact this trailer is advertisement ...it says 12th Annual Kelly Shrier fund raising...
These boys think winter before the snow..Greg/Mel and the boys went to the snowmobile show in Toronto Friday, Greg says he's the only one that didn't get the leather suit he wanted, back-ordered, but Kyle/Noah got new helmets - the new airtight ones, and Melanie got her new suit...says now that the Foxy Lady is winterized, pool closed it can come any day...right...lol
Morning..I got sidetracked yesterday..
Here is the photo that didn't get posted. I thought it had..and off I went..
Nice to meet your new friends Betty..are Stacey and Janice friends or related?
Looking at your photos takes me back to when I visited Bonners in Frankenmouth many years ago. It sure is a place where you just go around with your mouth open..but I do remember it being very pricey. I remember a big bakery along the main street ..and so many wonderful shops to browse in.
Love your new outfits Betty..looks like they will be comfy and warm.
I spent some of yesterday washing all the winter hats scarves and gloves and couple fo jackets..freshening things for the cold weather to come. Big frost over everything yesterday morning.
I am reading Barbara Walters book Audition..quite interesting.
My grandson came over and carried the 4 big bags (88 lbs.each )of salt pellets downstairs to the water softener for me. I go buy them at the co-op and they put them in the trunk of the car for me there...then I call my son usually..but now the torch has been passed to my 19 year old grandson Michael.
Going swimming today with my friend Sheila....they finally got the sauna repaired at the recreation complex so we can enjoy that again.
Have a great day all
Cheers,
Carol
Janice is my MIL:)
Morning..Stacey you are up and at it early this morning, your 4am and I'm 4:45 a.m. risers..beat you on Saturday though...
Carol, Suzanne was telling me they are calling just north of me (at home) for light snow tomorrow..sure am glad Kathy got me to bring in most of the garden art and that Greg got the boat serviced and shrink wrapped...looks as though there were tons/tons of people at the fair..nice weekend for it..wow that's a lot of salt, will it last you the entire winter or will you need more???
Could I have slept in this morning, when the alarm rang I said thought, please Lord let it be Sunday, but it wasn't...sure slept well though..
So here I am at work, brought in 100 card stock and will work to cut Christmas designs out as I have quite a crew coming to make cards on Saturday morning...no rest for the wicked...I'm so laughing, I've 22 santa faces sitting on my work window ledge waiting to be finished and I'm starting something new..I work on a first project needed basis...
Light rain falling, looking drab, most of the leaves now are on the ground..
Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. I have been busy and lazy all at that the same time so that's why I've been AWOL for awhile.
Woke up to frost this monring! YEAH! I love fall and winter. If we would only get snow, it would be great! I've got to get all my cacti off my screened in porch when I get home plus all my hanging plants. I have no clue where I'm going to hang them!!
DH went camping this weekend and froze his butt off but loved every minute of it. We will be camping the first weekend of Nov (and freezing, I'm sure!). This is the weekend we take our boat down to get winterized and then store it for the winter. We will not be taking the dogs on this trip because we have a tradition of going to Cracker Barrel while the boat is being worked on and I'm not giving that up for dogs!
Speaking of dogs, both are doing great. No new emergency vet visits! Miss Sailor is the sweetest little girl and just so cute I could eat her up. I will try and take a picutre of her to post. She and Murphy are still playing wonderfully and are a perfect match! She of course is the dominate one! I don't think Murphy minds that though. Something funny happened friday while DH and I were working from home. I look up and Sailor is walking around the family room with something in her mouth and Murphy is trying to get it but she is having nothing of that. Well, what ever it is is pretty pig so i take a closer look and the dang puppy has a full size dead dove in her mouth!!! I was like "honey, Sailor has a bird!!". It must have been dead for a little while and they just found it cause it was a little stiff. So I pryed that out of her mouth and went back to work. The things dogs put in their mouths!!!
So I think I had a first last night - my first hot flash. I'm not sure but I started feeling real bad then got real hot & nauseous (but my temp was fine). It slowly went away but man, I hope if that was one, this is not how they will be!! I didn't eat dinner cause I felt so bad - I actually thought I had the flu hitting me - and the smells made me gag! We women get periods, get PMS, carry babies and then hot flashes! What the heck to men get except the backlash from us??? Not fair!! LOL
Well, back to "work"! :) Will chat later!
J
LOL/LOL yep it is a b*^tch...no fun at all Jeannine...think I'm now over them now, at least I hope so..it's being 'clammy' that I didn't like to most...one would almost hope it was the 'flu'..
OMG yuk, don't know that I could have taken the dove from Sailor..did you get to use the boat a lot this season? With Missy she loves bringing home moles, the odd time it's been a bird..I almost hate the idea of feeding the birds just incase she's able to catch one...
Suzanne is really sick today, she had to come in as she's many meetings scheduled and has to prep for court tomorrow..on the way in she had hoped that Paul would take tomorrow's court hearing but he says he must be at the new Toronto office to have all the phones and links done with service provider...
I keep getting feelings of nausea..sure hope I'm not getting it..know that Rita was quite ill for a few days before we left..oh/oh...
Forgot to say I called Sharon (sister) last night...she's doing poorly..says she cannot move, they've increased the morphine which is making her sleep pretty well the entire day/night..had difficulties keeping a conversation going as she'd doze off in the middle of it...will try somehow, either Friday or Sunday to go visit her in the Orangeville Hospital..can't see how they could possibly let her go home with no one to care for her..
Betty, still have prayers coming your way for your Sister. please take care of your self, and don't come down with that cold. Maybe she should have stayed home, so as not to spread it to everyone?
Take care
Linda Kay
That's the thing though, no matter how sick she is she MUST come in..clients coming in to go over their files before court tomorrow and she's the paralegal and must attend along with them...
Just finishing my first batch of cutting out 12 cards ..going to take a bread, going back and reading the thread of just where I was when I left for Michigan..know I didn't respond and that wasn't nice..so will do shortly....
Ruby, I got your envelope with seeds...do appreciate it..look forward to seeing the friendship garden come alive next spring....
Thought I'd move us over into another room...hard to download with so many photo's....
Posted a questions for today...see if you know the answer...

Meant to ask...Janice and Jeannine, did you want me to send you some card patterns or is it something you'll forgo
My computer won't take that link or something so I'm posting here until I can move over, too lazy to look it up on the General Forum. lol
So it is surprising to see how slow dg seems lately. Maybe this economy and job losses etc. seem to have taken ahold of so many people's lives. Have you noticed that. It effects every town and every state. I am so glad that we all have eachother to talk to and to focus on something other than our crazy world we live in.
Betty did they determine that your problem was indeed scar tissue? Did they do anything about it?
Liz the Cannas are still blooming. Thanks again. They are like weeds. lol
Aw--Dawn--You ART lazy! You are now 2 Posts behind--#64 AND #65!!!!!
