Lavender, Purple Sage, Walkers Catmint Low

Hi, I'm new to gardening/landscaping and I think I made some mistakes this summer- pretty, but now I'm lost.

Firstly, I was away traveling and didn't know when or how to prune these plants, now I'm not sure what to do before first frost. Do I prune them now? How far down? Also with butterfly bushes. I love them all and want to see them gorgeous again next year....I would hate to mess this all up!

Also, a lot of placement was wrong, when do I relocate them? Now or spring? If spring, how early? I just got so excited everytime I was at the garden center I would get something and put it in the ground then Voila- come mid summer I saw all my mistakes :) LOL.

All help will be greatly appreciated!

At least on the lavender I think you're toward the lower end of their hardiness so I would probably wait until spring to move them. Unless they're in a spot where they are going to be too wet during the winter, if that's the case then I'd move them now since cold plus poor drainage makes it much less likely to survive the winter. For all of them I'd probably wait until spring to cut them back.

Next spring as soon as you notice tiny new leaf buds start to show on the stems, then go ahead and prune them all, as for the lavender, dont prune/cut into the hard/grey/darker woody stem or it wont regrow from that again, If there is a chance that this plant or your cat mint will get iced or frosted, then add a mulch around the root are for winter, but dont pile it up against the stems or they may rot. if you have no frost at the moment, then you could move your plants now, but spring time will be better as this will give you more chance to decide the right place for them and remember wherever you replant them, allow for them to grow much wider as well as taller.
