wow...so once again I am sooo far behind on this thread! lol!
Okay, I have a question.....
Can I take cuttings from my brugs now? or should I wait til spring?
several of my brugs have a second branch near the bottom. I want to trim them back to keep the tree form. If I can take the cuttings now, I'm willing to share with anyone who wants them :)
Good Morning Everyone,
Well I am going to start planting my yard today I have a couple of Gingers and a Banana that I need to get into the ground. I have a bunch of brugs but they will wait till the Spring before I plant them outdoors as they won't survive the winter if I do plant them now.
James
Good Monday Morning All! James, so nice you are going to get to play in the dirt today. Enjoy yourself out there... AnjL, yes you can take the branch off, I trim a little here and there through the growing season, too.. so it's kind of personal preference..
Newbie Hottie Iris, I haven't forgotten about sharing the different ways to winter over, if you are wondering something specific please d-mail me and I'll tell you what I know.
Becky and Momma - prayers and positive thoughts
Debra, sorry I missed you last night, I had a great weekend outside and I HAD to finalize that trade with Mike.. Didn't take too long to redo the pkg and we both are getting more brugs than we had originally bargained for... like I NEEDED more. But one of these years, I'm going to have to prioritize my inventory and thin some out drastically. .. .. ok, not TOO drastically... I don't think there is a purple brug, yet... are you talking about purple Datura? There IS work being done to produce a purple brug so maybe someday soon.. I have the orange trumpet vine, but I bet someone has the yellow to share.. I gotta jet, gotta pay to play, catch up to you later this morning..
Karen, have fun in the garden house..
I asked Mike if that horsey knew not to eat brug leaves, he looks like a happy gentle creature..
Joeswife..Deb..I have whats suppose to be a yellow trumpet vine (that's what I bought..LOL) I've had it for a couple years but I think I put it in too much shade so it's never bloomed...I wanted it to climb up a tree but the tree got bigger and more shadier..I'm planning on moving it to a sunnier location...if I can divide the roots or get a cutting to root..i'll send it to ya...Won't know till I dig it up...Gonna put a piece of my Purple Wisteria there in it's place..they grow anywhere...LOL
Good morning all Hotties and Hansomes
Again I miss so much yesterday, I had company in the afternoon and tried to sit up with them. After they left it was all I could do to shower. I just lay out for the evening but I did finally sleep some last night. It was on and off but the best sleep since I’ve been home. I think it will be forever before these meds wear off.
Mike you have the most beautiful doubles. If you have extra cuttings in the end I will take them for postage. So glad you had fun coming out of you’re lurkdom last night. I love your horse.
James you’re up as early as me and getting ready for the outside. I was thinking that your burgs would survive in the ground there in the winter. I was in Pensacola once in Feb 1973. I went for a weeks vacation to visit friends and ended up in a bad car/truck accident on Scenic Highway. I ended up in the hospital for 8 week before an ambulatory flight home.
Beck you and your Momma are in my prayers this morning. Praying all goes as well as possible.
Hi Anjl, I seem to be getting here once a day also, lots of reading to catch up. I would think it is okay for you to take cuttings now. Some one in the warmer zones will be better to tell you.
AuntB, your doing the trading with Mike and we will be after you for pieces in the spring.
Clemen, We are going to strip that orange passie, lots of cuttings going out. How wonderful someone had your Cactus.
Phyllis so nice of you to be keeper of the list.
Audrey, you need to add your one plant you want to the list. Just post it and it will get added.
Linda Kay, I crossed post with you yesterday, sorry I did not see yours until today. TY for checking on me.
Louise, you are right, anytime is a wonderful time for plants!!
Karen, So happy you had such a wonderful weekend with Mom. You look beautiful in the pix, so happy to be with her.
Peg oh peg, the devil has been complaining about me for years. Think he tried to get rid of me last week but I managed to get my feet on the floor at least one more time.
Hello to Faye, Debra and Kim, lots of post to read and I can’t remember anything else.
I’ll be off today in town for Dr appt. tests, probably be to tired again tonight to post.
Good Morning, even though it is Monday, it's gloomy and raining and I have to work! Oh, well.
I think the list was just if any of us could find it for the other person or already have it. But, again, for Cathy's hydrangeas and Donna's banana, I will be sending it in the spring due to size and postage, and the late season. (Phylliis, would you mind adding this to the list for me?)
Beck and Mom (HUG) and keep us posted. I'm still waiting on that call, girl! :)
Okay, got to get back to work. I should have been born very rich, or somethin, ya know?
Love, Peg
Good Morning all! It was very warm here last night and I could smell the bruggies on the sun porch! It is lovely having coffee and smelling that scent! Mike so glad you are joining in the fun here. I did go through your huge list of brugs and restrained myself from dmailing you! I gotta get my seven through winter ok before I am an official brug Mom! Bonnie you are a true brug nursery! You really oughta start selling cuttings to fund that addiction girl. I know you have enough to sell and share! LOL Oh Deb, since I am sending you four o'clocks in the spring I will send you a selection of some great Japanese Morning Glories. Some have variegated foliage too! Well gotta get more coffee then take off...early groom and then move the giant plants to the shop. See ya later all!
Oh how I know that Peg...would be nice. Donna sweetie! Take care and good luck at the Doc's today. So glad you posted this morning! You drinking lots of fluids? Tea and such?
Morning Hotties and Handsomes!!!
Well another beautiful day is dawning! Fixing to get up and get out of here... sure remember how it "was" to have to get up and go to work... I feel for ya'll..lol
Last night was wild..lol.. I was having sooo much fun!!
Bonnie..I see you are up and attem..lol I guess you took care of Mike last night ( with the brug cutting)
Peg.. when you least expect it..lol I'll be there!! Some of my cuttings trying to root for the RU have bit the dust.. and I am NOT too concerned.. about now..lol.. YAY I get to meet PEG!!
Karen... OH YOU!! You are gorgeous with any color hair..lol... well let's not go that bright orange though..LOLOL.. Can you believe the RU is 5 days away for you and me and Linda Kay?? Peg and I are11 days and counting!! I'll NEVER book 2 RU's 1 week apart ever again!!
Phyllis.... ain't that the truth about wysteria?? Blink 2 x and it's already grown to town..lol.. but I do like wysteria!
James... yay.. gonna play in the dirt.. I have some of my larger brugs that I was thinking of putting in the ground... but I assuming you are saying it's too late?? We're in the same zone!!
Donna.... I know now that you are truly on the mend!! You are up early..lol.. Glad you are feeling better, but since you tried "slipping on that banana peel TWICE".. take one day at a time.. I know.. HARD for a Hottie!!..lol
Ty for your prayers for Momma!! I'll LYK soon as I can!! LOVES to all!!
Hey weesie!!! ^_^
Well thats what I think as it does get a frost here and do not want mine to die so I will wait till the Spring before I put them in the ground.
James
Aunt B! I'll "B" watching the mail!!
Morning all! James I was told by someone who grows huge bananas in my area, 8a, which gets a frost, to dig the bananas up before the frost, wash all traces of dirt off the roots and store them in a dry place under the house, in a shed, etc. and replant in the spring. That way they will continue growing each year from where they were instead of having to start from the ground each year. This way they will get huge and produce bananas! When I read your post I thought you might want to try it....Now...
Do you know about Gingers? I planted 8 pinecone gingers in the spring and know nothing about their winter care. Do you have to overwinter Gingers? Someone please let me know.
Donna honey I know you are weak still but again, it is wonderful to have you back and at least be able to talk to you. ♥
James I am on the new end of the hotties and have never officially said hello to you! I'm sorry! I know you are happy the move is over.....Bless your heart, that you will have to suffer waiting for the winter to be over before you can really play in your new yard, LOL! Just think of the planning you can do though!
Mike, I might need to make an apology....Were you and Aunt B just trading? I feel badly now for asking for cuttings....I'm sorry if I goofed. We are all happy you have joined us more actively, good to have you here!
Louise how is business going at your shop? Are you getting more appts. lined up each day? I hope so I think of your shop often ♥ Mornig Peg, love you too girl! Don't work too hard! I'm off to hold tools while Jerry swears, but maybe we'll get everything finished today. Love you all!!!!
Where's the list I'm s'posed to post on?
Mike, do your brugs survive the winter outside? If yours do, mine will!
Audrey, Only Phyllis can edit the list. Just post the plant you want and she will take care of it.
Can it be anything, or does it have to be a brug?
Hello darkmoondreamer I will try that with my banana and yes I always to bring in my ginger for the winter I put them in a paper bag with holes of course and I store them in a cool dry place then in the Spring I put them back out into the garden. This year I will try to plant them in the ground and see what happens.
James
Any kind of plant
OK! I'd like to have a giant allium, a purple one!
Hey, Ladies and Gents, Yes, Becky, Mike and I finalized our trade and his pkg is leaving KS this afternoon, with Audrey's, Louise's and James.. (I'll d-mail you all to confirm it's done) I'll be sending plants and seeds for weeks to come by the looks of my deck and diningroom table.. I told DD to leave it all be, and we'll do some "domestic modifications" ;) when I get the last envelope/pkg is in the mail.
Donna, so glad you are taking it easy and hope you get good reports from the doc today... let us know how it goes when you can. We need a phone conversation when you get to feeling like yourself, again. I sure enjoy reading your posts. I was thinking we should make that HOT Pink Perfektion our "official" hottie Brug and I'll be giving it Xtra special care so it will grow lots and I can send cuttings to all the hotties next year... That is the brightest pink brug I've ever seen, less Mike "enhansed" it with photoshop ;) tehe.. It's cloudy but nice temps this a.m., thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for later, also heard a very slight chance of ISOLATED HAIL... (I'm shakin in my chair).. Louise, that will be fun moving big plants to the shop, well fun after they are moved.. Peg, I need to ask my Mom about that being born rich.... maybe she's holding back.. lol Karen, just d-mail and ask what you can trade to satisfy your craving...and remember a Hottie isn't to proud to beg ;) ...If I missed any one or a question, d-mail gets my attention.. I keep getting interupted (they expect me to actually WORK) so I'll check in when I can! Seize the day, Hotties!
Hey Hotties, just got home from Dr with Dh he is hurting poor baby.. I have a bubbling tub now, but Monster Brug is enjoying the mild rain today so will leave her in the ground for now.. I just gotta have blooms!
well, I guess I will be taking some cuttings from 9 of my brugs today!
Once I do, I'll let you all know what I have as they will all be up for grabs :)
I think I finally figured out this thread...as long as I check in every five minutes or so...its not so overwhelming! LOLOL!
{{Donna}} hope your feeling 100% soon!
okay all have a great day...off to take my fur baby to his re-check appt!
1Anjl, glad to hear your furbaby is doing better. Put my name down for some cutting please. I will send you postage when you get ready.
Joeswife, what happened to hubby? Nothing serious I hope. Prayers going your way.
I also read you were asking for apurple brug cutting. If you get one, you will be the envie of all brug collectors. They have any purple brugs yet! I wish they did. Only the daturas come in purple.
When the new room is created, (hint hint) will you please put the list at the top, so we can keep track of it.
Thanks
LK

James....new thread...above
Dial up stinks for some of us...LOL
AuntB & Kim -
I'm doing fine! My brugs made it through the hurricane just fine. They lost all of their leaves in the 80+ mph winds, but they began putting out tons of buds the next week! I took 4 large cuttings of my possible CG brugs and stuck them in a pot of water with root tone and fertilizer (testing it out) and they are blooming like crazy in my garage with no roots yet!
I was very blessed to get a Dola this year on eBay so I planted her AFTER the hurricane (she's just a baby) and I can't wait for her to really grow! I also was able to purchase a cross from Liz (The Chief x Jacayna - not sure if that's the right order or not) and that baby made it through the hurricane just fine and now seems to have sprouted wings! She was about 8 inches tall above the soil line (grown from seed) about 2 months ago, and now she's about 3 1/2 feet tall! No Y yet, but that's not bothering me!! I hope she gets to be about 5 or 6 feet tall before the Y because of where I've planted her. I cannot wait to see how she performs! I also have a resiliant NOID Double White that is about 2 feet tall now. This guy has been battling mealybugs since the hurricane, but I'm out there daily attacking those guys with my sheers (yep, I'm snipping them in half!).
I thought after the hurricane that I'd lost most of my plants (some of which I did lose, including some palm trees), but not one of my Brugs was affected, thank God!
It's been hard to get on here very much since the storm because we have had SOOOOOOOOOOO much work to do around the house. We'd evacuated for 2 weeks, had some roof damage, electrical damage, very minimal vehicular damage, and lost some plants. The worse thing though was being without power after the storm, which is why we left. The clean-up has been crazy for us, and I'm having to baby pretty much all of my plants in hopes of getting the ones remaining back to full health before the winter hits us in January-February. So most of my time while at home has been spent on that. I'm going to try to log in once a day from work though until I can get on while at home again. Glad to see everyone is doing so well!!
Oh Amanda, bless you. So glad you are okay! No power stinks, been there.
Please recopy your post and join us on #25. Take care. Peg
