I have a 6:2:36:3 fertilizer. Is this suitable for banana trees?
Musa Fertilizer
Do you know what your fertilizer numbers mean? Over here fertilizers are typically labeled with 3 numbers, first one is nitrogen, second is phosphorus, and 3rd is potassium. I've never seen one with 4 numbers so I don't know which one of your numbers corresponds with which nutrient.
The first number is nitrogen, the second is phosphorus, the third - potassium and the fourth is magnesium.
We can't grow bananas, but I did some Googling, and the consensus seems to be that very little phosphorus is needed, so the 2 sounds good. Most of the recommended analyses I saw showed a higher ratio of nitrogen to potassium than what you have (6:36). If you want to use up what you have, you might go ahead and use it and add a bit of slow-release nitrogen to the mix.
Hello,
I tryed the fertilizer that I have and my banana tree grew a new leaf overnight! Bear in mind that my banana tree is almost 3 meters tall and the leaves are quite large. Later this autumn I will collect some dry oak leaves and put them round the base of the plant. Banana trees really do like this.
