Wasn't sure where to post this since it isn't about vegetables but I was wondering if you should mow your strawberry bed in the fall. Seems like I read this somewhere. I would like to hear any other suggestions you have about what I should do for my bed. This is its second year and they have really grown this summer. Also, what is the best way to divide my bed; it's now about 5 feet wide and solid but I would like to make it into 2 rows. Thanks for all your help.
Do you mow strawberries off in the fall?
Junebearing or everbearing?

I have both kinds.
I've read about the June bearing ones being mowed in the fall, but not seen anything suggesting that the everbearing ones are to be mowed as well.

The Junebearers should really be mowed in July, right after their season. I think that doing it now may reduce the crop next year.
It would definitely be a good idea to divide your bed into two rows. I would mow it, then rototill it, then put down a thick layer of newspaper or plastic.
