Garden Photos - Part 39

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

this would be for the 'unbloom' thread if we had one. it bloomed last year, but I'm just as glad it didn't this year as it leaves a big hole when the blooms die.

The lemon, rhubarb and navel jelly etc is a soulution to get out a spot of rust. Which is a WITCH to get out ! I have heard that if you have rusty water the only way to get it under control is a filtration system.

Schicken, that is not good news. I have used a product called Rust Out and it works, but was hoping there was a natural solution to the problem other than filtration.

Jen, that cardinal sure is pretty.

Just remember Thanksgiving is comming lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did you shoot the deer?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I keep threatening her with the deep fryer.... when she coo's at me though the kitchen window in the morning

and no I didn't shoot her Victor.... but did think about it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did she cause any damage?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I see some day lily from Pirl and a few hosta.... going to spray tomorrow

can't really fire a gun here... homes are too close

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I know - same problem here. Not that I am sure I could do it anyway! I would let someone else though.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's what Randy would be good for.... not me either

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

His name is Josh and he's silent and deadly with a bow...all you'd hear is whizzz, thud. Deer is done.... a slight drag mark MIGHT be noticable, but doubtful. lol
Actually he's so good that last year he was in the bushes and a deer came so close Josh could of reached out and touched it's ears. They never know he's there until it's to late.
He took a coyote down using his gun while it was on a full run after a deer. My brother the Colonel said the Marines would love to have him as a sharp shooter.....I let my brother know that the Marines are going to have to go through me first. He's fine right here in the Maine woods or possible a New J. Or New Y. back yard..^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

When is he available?!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL A little anxious Victor?

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

onewish - nice shot of the hummer stretching! so lucky

haven't got much going on, but the crabapples look nice all wet. I'm just happy I have some this fall. Last year a chipmunk took them all before they were even ripe. Silly critter.

and the gaillardia is still going. I'm so pleased with this plant (deadheading is required, but it rewards you for it)

[this picture is actually from July, but looking out front they still look like this, but even more so]

We will send you some of 'Gertie',s friends. Had to chase 20 of them out of the garden several times this afternoon. Good that they eat crickets, but they like to scratch up the ground where we finished weeding--not very good for the iris plants. The deer stand for bow season has been set up next door. Too many deer for the area--as a result they get sick over winter. Told the holder of the stand that I wouldn't mind an arrow getting a turkey as well.

A few impatiens are waiting for frost.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah I guess that would be a problem... glad Gertie is always alone

South Hamilton, MA

I bet 'Gertie' lays eggs next spring & she knows where you live.

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

I love those pics of 'Gertie'!
Mostly cleanup and fall planting mode now but some things in the garden are reblooming or still going strong. Here's a reblooming Hollyhock.

Very nice, Dyane. Love the aster.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Allison, beautiful pics!

Pixie, send Josh down here. He can hunt deer at my place anytime. I just can't let the neighbors know. Shhhhhh!

Evie, I love my gaillardias, too. Great plants. Just keep blooming and blooming.

Love your aster, Dyane. I just got that Jethro Tull this summer. Planted it kinda late, so it hasn't had a chance to bloom for me.

Thanks, Victor! Got these two Asters for a dollar each this spring at the Clark Botanic Garden Plant Sale. They are having their fall sale this weekend, I hope to score some more great finds.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

NFD... sorry I forgot to answer you before... the doggie was a gift from honeys mom Michele

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, nice!

Thomaston, CT

The photos put a smile on my face--especially the deer peeping through the foliage! I can always lend someone an airedale--of course he bites people as well. My photo files have again disappeared--I'll see if I can find the chestnuts I scavenged for down at the dam.

Yea--found them! Here is a Norway maple turning on 1 side only.
