He looks like a great friend!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I want to recomend a great book.
This is especially for people who love dogs.
"The Story of Edgar Sawtelle"
I wanted a dog after I read this book.
I have been a cat person for years, mostly because I travelled a lot and couldn't afford boarding fees.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

ge, I do like dogs but not every breed, golden retriever are just perfect for a family pet, they love people, love to be around them, we always had a dog as a pet mostly collies, they are great too. I will try to get a hold of this book, thank you for suggesting it.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I was reminded of the book when I saw your golden.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Looks like everyone is getting some nice color. Yay!

I think I finally got some decent pix.

This one is I think in the common land, taken from my back deck. I love the mix of colors on the same tree!

(note: my pix are probably best viewed when seeing the whole thing?)

Here's a shot of the striped maples that line my backyard (it is the woodland edge, but still my property). Not quite all yellow yet.

Lovely!! We are now at peak here in Maine....it will be over before I know it!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Where the grass meets the woodland edge. That's striped maple in yellow. And a thicker mix of leaves on the ground here. Wind hasn't come through yet :)

I turned off the stream on Sat :( It is a mess -- I have quite the cleanup in spring (so much algae this year)

Very nice, Eve! That's a bit depressing, Celeste.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Victor it is, but spring will surely come

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Encouraging thoughts, Maria!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Victor, I would not give up the four seasons for all the rice in china as the saying goes, nor would I want to spend winter in sunny places, have done that don't like it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I love the change of seasons too, Maria. Just wish the winter was shorter. Three weeks, and one snowstorm, is about right!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I want spring to come right after Christmas

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or a few days after New Year.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

oooops for got New Year.
I stopped staying up that late years ago.
Now I only resent the holiday because there is no mail.

I have a pure hate relationship with birch - I'm terribly allergic. Scored a 0 when we lived in DC, and now in Vermont it is off the charts. And now I have to stay away from certain foods. Grrrr.

Yours is an awesome looking tree though. It has a nice shape.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its beauty is whet keeps it from being fire wood.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sometimes, life's a birch.
