The front of my house is part sun with the sun shining from the left during the hottest part of the day. The result is that some of my flowering plants leaned ridiculously toward the left this summer, sometimes with the flower stalks leaning out almost 90 degrees to the left (That was an extra-tall heuchera). This looks quite silly when you are looking at the house straight-on. Anyway, any suggestions for part sun plants that flower but don't have a tendency to lean?
Part Sun plants that don't lean
Maybe stick to shorter or ground hugging types. I know it's a bit boring but all tall plants have a tendancy to lean if planted away from the sun - even shrubs.
There are all kinds of stakes and other things at garden centers to hold your plants. They might not hold a bush but they will hold flowers pretty good.
thanks for your ideas, roseimp and Smokey_SC! You're right, that now that I think of it, my shorter flowering plants (1 ft and shorter) didn't seem to lean at all, and looked pretty normal. Thanks also for the tip for using stakes. I may have to go that route. I was afraid the flower stalks would all lean to the edge of the ring and look all bunched up. But I guess that is better than 90 degrees to the ground!
