I am SOOOO stopping by your house! Mom and I will go on one of your walks with you. Bet there will be NO birds by then.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Would love to have you... yep no guarantees!! lol

I really do think we are at peak migration right now. Of course around that time some of the winter guys may be showing up!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I put these on the wrong forum...go figure!!

This is actually a Blue Headed Vireo....not a Magnolia Warbler

Magnolia Warbler

Ooops!

Blue-headed Vireo. Note the white 'spectacles' and fairly stout bill compared to a warbler.

oh my, is that a new one Nanny? Could it be #91

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Nice photos, nanny .....

Earlier this month, I photographed what I think is a 'Least Sandpiper'. I was particularly fascinated with this photo because of the coloration. It was a morning after a rain and the surface water was clear and bright against the morning sunlight.

What a gorgeous shot Linth!!

Marna, I don't see that one on either of her lists at yardbirder.

Solitary Sandpiper!

Least Sand would be a lot smaller, and more rufous-brown with continuous pale feather margins, not whitish spots; they also prefer more open conditions and bare wet mud, rather than shallow water.

Thank you!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Excellent article. I didn't know anything about coffee growing and birds. I'm definitely watching what I buy from now on and I'm sharing your article with everyone I know! The pictures y'all contributed were stunning!

Gorgeous swan Grasmussen!

This picture is not so great, but it's the only one that I got before this Pileated Woodpecker flew away.

That's great Elph, I've never seen a picture of a pileated on a pole like that.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I heard him call. I looked around and didn't see him, so I went on gardening and then I heard him pecking on metal and looked up at the pole. It used to be difficult to get a clear photo of that pole because of all the trees and branches. Now, there's nothing obstructing the view. It's very odd to have such drastic landscape changes in my little neighborhood.

I was just out front and thought I heard a Pileated call again. That must mean that there is a pair of them right?

South Hamilton, MA

Heavy rain & our dead birch tree with many piliated wp holes is down. I hope we will still see him. I know they are active in our wooded area but that tree was the only view we had.

Melbourne, FL

Terrific article indeed. Very imformative and well written and the pics are terrific. Mrs_Ed, here's a pic I got a couple years ago of a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers on a pole. I hear them all the time but have only seen them on a few occasions.

DH and I went to Wildlife Safari yesterday, and this bird was in the flamingo area. Though I'd never seen one before, I figured it was a Chukar. Beautiful bird!

I have started to stock up on peanut pieces for winter. But I have not put any out yet. Glad to see the Grackles have made it down to youe GP!! lol

One of many Robins in the area right now

These flamingo's reminded me of Dr. Doolittle's Pushme-Pullyou in reverse. Instead of two heads, there's two tails.

I love the sheen of the feathers when the light hits the Wild Turkey just right.

But they have a face only a mother could love.
