BRUG ME!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Boy am I plant dumb...Asked what plant I would want and I don't know enough plants to answer. So far, it's been everything I've seen on the thread...so you see, I have a long way to go BUT, BUT..I have a Brug bloom...A while back, I went to a strangers house, ask for a cutting and she gave me 2 different plants. one white, one pink. Was told to strip everything off, put into bucket of water for the winter. On the smaller of the plants, the white one, the buds were a nice size and I didn't pull them off...I'm so happy..I had 5 blooms and my garage smelled soooooo good. I have praised that blooming beauty to her face every day. DH asked me if she understood me and now DH knows that my dear blooming beauty does understand every word I say. Told you, I've gone loco over this plant and probably would all others. Question: These same 2 plants appear to have 2 y's that have y's, is this possible? and should I take a cutting from them..
Thanks, and I love ye..
Hope all the travelers had a safe, fun trip...another thing I want...Got wantitis here!
Night all.
Faye

Kim.. apple wine??? hmmm.. now the pie sounds really good..lol

Karen.. going now to read that about the brugs.. sounds very interesting!! BTW... You know.. I am wondering if I am now experiencing what you did with the loquat, etc?? Something going on anyway..

Linda Kay.. sure wish you could have gotten those stitches out..ouch!! How was the BD party???

Peg.. I am glad you checked in... I should have known you had something up your sleeve... guess I need to find something I want.. but I want them all.. I am NOT picky..lol

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Congrats!!!!What wonderful story Faye : )

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello all, just checking in before bed. Sandy I'm very happy that your Chelsea called....I pray that this all works out good for all of you. I guess Amiyah is sleeping soundly now, getting ready for another busy day. Girl you had one! All those good veggies to put up!

Kim, ummmmmm...apple pie.........I love to bake in the fall and holiday season, and apple is one of my favorite to make!

Peg ya'll are too much with the surprises! Again, it is so sweet. I don't know for sure but I am thinking that Ken and Maggi may be bringing me a Haight Ashbury Hibs to the RU on Oct. 11, so I may have that covered. If I may be so bold, the one I'm having the most trouble finding here that someone else might be able to find locally is a Blue Hibiscus. Maybe one of our hotties might have a cutting?

Faye you sound like me, I have wantitis all the time and the doctors just can't cure me, LOL! I can just smell your garage with those pretties blooming in it. Maybe I should talk to mine!

Linda Kay, take your own stiches out hottie! It's easy, just clip them and pull out with tweezers, that's what the doc will do. I'm a redneck with no insurance, we always have to be different! My husband cut himself once and I stitched him up myself, with a needle and dental floss, have done it several times in fact. That's one tough guy I have, haha! Just rub a little Orajel around to numb it and stitch aways! Allright, that is not for hotties who are faint of heart, LOL! Hope you had a great time at the party ☺

Becky darn you I just love crab legs and melted butter, could eat my weight in them. I bet you sleep good tonight!

You hotties have a great night, I love you and will see you in the morning! {{{{{HUGS}}}}

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Karen.. I have 2 large blue Hibiscus... they are blue in my soil.. I don't do anything to make them blue.. I'll see if i might have a rooted cutting for you.. if not I'll bring you a bunch of cuttings ay yhr RU.. one wish granted.. you get 2 more..LOL

Faye.. congrats!! is this your first ever bloom?? Bet it does smell sooo nice!

Linda Kay.. no way..LOL.. I'd have to let the DR take those stiches out... ewwwiiieeee!!!..LOL

hi Hotties hope everything is going great and a good week end to all.

Spoke to Donna one more time and she is still recuperating, no word yet of getting out of the hospital. She had another allergic reaction today, but with medicine, she is fine now. Keep your prayers going girls ok.

Good night everyone, Clem

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Yikes! Didn't know anything had happened to Donna. I haven't been able to keep up here .... been having trouble with my internet connection this week. Sure will be sending her best thoughts and prayers.

Hugs to all Hotties and Handsomes! Busy day here with company and then an unexpected group showed up to watch football, so had a housefull. Now, I'm wore out tired, but not sleepy yet. Yuck...

Oh, Sandy, I hope things work out with you and Chelsea so you do have your daughter back and have Amiyah. Big special hug to you, sweet lady! But, I heard a hush in Brugdom.... somebody said "Brug Me." Oh my, that is a call to action. Forget canning, your going to need those jars for brug cuttings. I hope you get flooded with beautiful gifts. I've got one big enough to do some cutting, after it blooms for the first time, so I will gladly share later.

Okay, Karen, you may alway be so bold, lady. A blue Hibiscus it is, but I will have to do some research on that. Is it hardy or tropical you're thinking about? Special prayers going out to the Lade family.

Wolfie, you have really been busy with those seeds. You will really have the brugs come next Spring and more pictures to share with us. :) That is so horrible about your family dog. I'm just dreading that day with my old mutt, he's my constant companion.

I was so hoping we would have some picts already from Bonnie and Louise tonight. I just know they had a special day.

I know I've have not mentioned everybody, so Beck, Fay, Clem, Kim, Audrey, Nadine, Phyllis, Linda Kay, Deb, Dollie, Posey, Caren, James, everybody have a safe and happy weekend. And if I missed anyone, oh, goodness, Cathy and Joyce, too! It's great to have such a big family of good Hotties and Handsomes! Peg

Heya hotties! The roundup was great and we had a wonderful time meeting everyone from the midwest forum. I know Bonnie's lovely daughter Mel took pics too, but here is a pic of Bonnie and me showing the letter H in sign language for HOTTIES! That is Bonnie and me flashing our gang symbols! Bonnie is just as lovely in person inside and out!!

Here is some of the plant "booty" that was there. There were tons of cuttings, divisions and entire pots of plants. Those are some of my seedling brugs hiding behind the tree. There were a ton of seeds to choose from too!

ok funny story. My hubbie and I went to Joyce's house to drop off plants after the roundup and He used Rand Mcnally online to find the address. Well it routed us NOT to Joyce's house but somewhere in the wilds of Missouri about ten miles away. Sooooo we stopped and asked at five different homes and NO ONE knew where it was! We thought we might be wandering around Missouri FOREVER! Finally we went into town and the lady at the gas station steered us in the right direction and we found it!!!!! Dropped off the plants and headed home. We finally got home at 10:00 at night and I was exhausted and went straight to bed! Now I am up at some ridiculous hour! LOL oh well....

Minneapolis, MN

Oh Louise ! LOve the Pics. I have been up all night too with those darn crazy knees. I have to go back up the thread to read and thank everyone for all your support for offerings of Brugs and perhaps having my daughter back. We will see. I think it is time that I, Sandra D, confess that I am in need of a Dr. But, Karen, I have never stitched anyone up, but I have taken my own stitches out. It's a breeze. Not a very big deal at all. So Linda Kay braveheart that I know you are, clip those stitches and get them outta there!!!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Louise and Bonnie, it sure looks like you both had a great time at that RU. So lucky that two hotties got together, can you just imagine if we could all do that at some point? Wow, that would be the day!

Sandra, hoping you feel better soon.

Have a nice Sunday everyone, I know I will spend it indoors helping out DD with her college apps, yuk!

OK Love to all, Clem

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow, I was so happy to wake up to pictures this morning! You and Bonnie and Mel are just lovely Louise! Looks like you had a wonderful and relaxing time also. I too dream of a hottie get together! I know they actually did that on another forum, can't remember which....I know Audrey went though.

Here is a picture of the Blue Hibiscus.....I've been told it's readily available and easier found in other states than Texas, such as FL, CA.....I think some varieties can be mail ordered here but I haven't looked too hard. Anyway, here is the variety name and a photo to knock your socks off. Isn't it beautiful?

Karen, that is a nice hibiscus, do you know if this particular plant blooms as profusely as other colors though?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm think a DG'r that lives in CA told me that they bloom pretty well Clemen....I've been told that they are a hardy but might need to come indoors where I live for the winter. I need to research more. Here is the plantfiles link to several varieties of the purple.....They are all considered Alyogyne, and there are several huegelii cultivars, but I think the Monterrey one just pops! It's so dark and glossy!

Hi to ALL.
I really am comming back. lol I guess I just never realized just how carried away I got with buying plant's this year that have to come in for the winter. Yesterday I was moving so good only to run out of dirt. Shoot!! To the store I go today to buy more dirt. I will get this done one way or another so I can be back with all you wonderful people. Before we switch I thought I would answer Dahtzu's question from above. Your plant will set out a new Y each time it blooms and then those Ys will go on to Y as well. If the plant was never killed back by frost or trimmed you would end up with a tangled mess of branches that would look more like a shrub than a tree. Here is one that I have in the ground that I have trimmed to be a tree. Its pretty bare of leaves since Ike so you can see some of the Ys. I have marked most of them in red but I think you can get the Idea. I hope this answers your question

Caren, thank you so much. Great to see all the y's on your tree. Is it best to leave it untrimmed, or take cuttings. Where is the best place to get the cutting? Just don'
know, but do want to learn.
Sounds like a fun trip you two had and I'm glad to see you made it back to us safely. I'm not sure I can even imagine the excitement of meeting and trading so many plants...Maybe that would be plant heaven.
Beck, You sweet hotties got me started on Brugs a few months ago, my plants are to small to bloom. I do have 1 white Brug that I planted (not knowing what it was until this forum) in the ground when it was nothing but a bunch of roots. (that's all I knew) I planted it year before last, it came up last year, but i thought it died. Never gave it another thought until I started on this forum and realized what a Angel Trumpet was. Needless to say, went looking to see if I had one, YEP...and a nice size. Have been watching it all season and boy did she bloom. I have never been so surprised, excited and happy over blooms. The plant is in the far corner of my front yard, very close to a Rose Of Sharon and was not very noticable until she bloomed. Many blooms at once, then bloomed again. Sure wish she was planted somewhere else in the yard so I would see it more. Anyway, people passing on the street can enjoy her.
Have never seen a Blue Hibiscus or a Kaleidescope before and they are both beautiful plants.
Love yall
Faye
