Just bought a new houseplant. It looks really familiar, but I can't put my finger on it:
Houseplant ID's
And lastly, I don't think its a houseplant, but I'm going to try to overwinter it. These are starts from a plant my sister got this summer. The tag said it was called Jacob's Coat, but I couldn't find anything that resembled it when I searched for it. No idea what it really is. Thanks for any help on the ID's! I hate not knowing what plants I have!

1. Cordyline - common name Hawaiian Ti, but I'm not sure which one. I have one that looks just like it but it was not labeled when I bought it last spring. Not sure if it's in Plant Files, but there are lots: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=cordyline&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
2. Looks like Parlor Palm: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1479/
3. You forgot the photo but there's one with common name of "Joseph's Coat, Alternanthera:

Oops, no wonder the last one was quicker to post. It does kind of resemble the creme de menthe one, but I'll post the pic(assuming I remember to).
Cordyline! I knew it was something familiar. I also got a variegate umbrella plant....they were 75% off! A little over 3 dollars for 2 plants, that's not bad. Didn't feel so guilty buying them.
Thanks plantladylin!
gonna post the "forgotten picture" now....
Ok, that last one, is not Alternanthera (Joseph's Coat) but rather Alcalypha (Jacob's Coat): http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=acalypha&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
Sorry about that! There are quite a few in Plant Files so maybe you will find yours by comparing photos.
Your Variegated Umbrella plant is probably the Schefflera 'Trinette', commonly sold as a house plant. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/153712/
Down here in Florida they are used as landscape plants in the ground.
Hmmmm.....ok, then the Jacob's Coat kinda looks like Copper Leaf, Jacob's Coat 'Mosaica', but not quite. I hate trying to figure out which kind of plant something is. There are so many that look so much alike....
Thanks for all the information! Now, let's see if I can talk my husband into moving somewhere down south so I can have all the plants I wish I could grow up here....... hmmmmm......
:)

LOL, yep, All of those grow in the ground down here! My family has been in Florida for almost 42 years and I love it but the older I get the more I hate the humidity! Plants do love humidity though!
Yes, I can understand not liking the humidity with the high temps you get....I don't mind a little humidity though. Of course, If I lived down there we'd be broke......I'd buy every plant imaginable.
LOL, you would only have to buy one of each ... they seem to multiply rapidly in the heat! It seems like I am dividing and repotting nine months of the year!
I think you were right the first time, Lin, on the 'forgotten picture'.
I grow several Acalyphas...and I don't think that's one of them.
I think it *is* an Alternanthera....there is at least one cultivar that has foliage variegated with white only. I had it at one time, but can NOT think of the name of it!
Nan: I bet you are right. Upon closer inspection of kis-01's photo, it probably is Alternanthera. There are a few listed at Glasshouseworks website: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.glasshouseworks.com/thumbnails13/tn_Alternanthera_Green_Gold1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.glasshouseworks.com/trop-a2.html&h=138&w=138&sz=15&hl=en&start=2&um=1&usg=__PuFuDyWWuVImoO-1I5VKFEKYfiY=&tbnid=M2gAe8YLcE2EVM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=93&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dimages%2Bof%2Balternanthera%2Bgreen%2Bmachine%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX
I would love to find that one called Creme De Menthe! It is gorgeous!
Alternanthera 'Snow Queen' is the one I was thinking of!
Creme de Menthe is pretty.....many of them seem to look a lot alike, too, I've noticed!
