I am so amazed that we are up to vol. 14! But sadly this may be the last one for 2008. Please join in and share your photos of your flying jewels. If yours are gone, share some of your favorite pics that you got this summer.
This shot has to be one of my favorites for this year. This little guy chatters at me every morning when I put the front feeder out. I am sure gonna miss them when they're gone
In case you need it, we came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/902143/
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol.14
Awww Nanny, that first one is so great it makes me sad that they will be gone. And they just got here for me.
Very nice nanny and pretty cute too! Mine constantly continue the chase routine too though I've actually seen a few times when they sat side by side But it didn't last very long till they were back at the chasing! So commical and fun to watch, Will sure miss them when they go!
Great close up pelletory,She looks so nice and shimmery!
Nice pic nanny!
BTW, Their still reporting hummers in Ontario,Canada so I'm sure we'll be seeing more.
Very cute nanny!
Iris your #2 pic is so nice. It really shows how amazing the size of a hummer is, it looks like one of the hosta leaves could eat her up. lol
They have just been arriving en masse in Houston! Yippee!! I would see maybe 1 every once and a while before, but now there are several out there all day every day. I have a huge feeder, and this one little guy will not let any other hummer come near it! He sits in the tea tree and guards it fiercely. I can't understand why he thinks he needs that whole thing to himself!! I'm used to seeing feeders shared with dozens of hummers (usually all the same type though).
What fun they are. I can sit outside right next to the feeder and they don't seem at all phased by my presence. If I get to close, they just fly up to me, talk some trash, and fly to the tree. I hope they stay a while!
whoops forgot the picture

RN, love that "pouting" photo, it really DOES look a bit like a sulk.
Frank, I love those little red spots too. I've yet to photograph one or see with my eye.
BUT, I put out a new feeder in front of the kitchen window so we'll see. This is a feeder in the front yard I put out because I felt so sorry for the little one getting run off by the guard.
Marna he'll never be able to see the feeder, even I can't see it!!! :))
Rn wow shots.

Burn, are you sure you can't see the feeder? It's a big one.
Actually I did have a taker earlier today while I was doing the dishes. It was funny because it was looking in the window at me before perching. funny.
I loved it when they did that. When the feeder were empty, they stayed in the window for a little while, as if saying " hey lady where's our food". Very entertaining.
Look at those wings - how neat! I never noticed how long they are. Kind of like a swallow.
