I would like to do some planting on my retaining wall. The only problem is the prior owners put down desert rock there. They did not use a strong tarp but a cheap plastic so I can't pull it up. It has rips all over. What is the easiest way to take them up. Your suggestion would be appreciated.
Take up Desert Rock
Can you tell me what you mean by desert rocks? If there small then you can try shovelling them up, but you'll have trouble when you hit the plastic, otherwise picking them up is the only way I can think of.
Even though the plastic has rips in it, I would see how many of the rocks I could gather by rolling it up carefully. It would probably be easiest then to rake the rest up.
What are you planting? Do you really need to remove all the rocks? Another option might be to remove what you can by rolling them up in the plastic and then just pushing the remaining rocks out of the way to make a planting area.

Thanks to kitten0115 and the glendalekid for their feedback. I appreciate it very much.
