The Lichens are here!

Philadelphia, PA(Zone 6b)

This past spring, I put in a wood-lined garden path through a small wildflower area. Now that I'm cleaning up a bit in the garden, I've noticed loads of the most beautiful lichens growing along the wooden logs! Some of them are so striking that I consider them to be a wonderful addition to my garden. I think I'm a new lichen fan! Any other lichen fans out there?

I don't have any, yet, but I always love those back in the woods, and I let the mosses grow where they want to - just accepting the gifts I'm given.

I love to see it also.

Lichens and mosses seem to give a garden a sense of permanance and age. They make me feel restive and relaxed. When they start out in a new area it begins to look like a more natural setting. Yup! Love em too!

My giant oak in the front yard succombed to termites 3 years ago, and the stump continues to provide the most interesting lichen. Fairys love lichen too. Would love to share pictures with you all as soon as I get a new battery.

Would love to see a picture, as we don't have them here in North Texas, to my knowledge, that is.
