Morning Hotties! I don't know what was going on last night with the website but I had a heck of a time until I just said enough. AuntB I sure would love a brug and I know I could do real good with her with you and all the rest of y'all hotties walking me through it. I just took this picture as I sit here and we put this window in last year. It faces east and gets sun until 2:00 pm so I think I should be okay. Anyway, thanks for y'all having us in your thoughts and now I gotta go. DH is hollern' away cause we are off to the Apple Orchard! Chat at y'all later. Please disregard the mess tho, it's been my summer storage area. LOL.

Okay, leave it to me to have the weirdo.

The plant on the right is a pink NOID I received from AuntB. Would you tell me what this brug is doing? No heighth at all, just spreading out like crazy. I'm beginning to wonder if it is invasive.

Anyway, any suggestions?

Mike, that is so pretty, such a lovely shade of yellow!!!
How long have you been growing brugs?

Look what I found blooming this morning. These plants are only about 3 months old, I started from seed, and they are blooming already! Hard to believe! They are about maybe 2 foot tall!!!

Sandra, love that window! Peg I think that brug looks fabulous and I love the shortness of it! I wouldn't worry at all, it looks plenty healthy and happy. You know brugs do whatever the heck they want lol. Mike that is a really fabulous color on that brug bloom!
Linda Kay that is awesome! So very pretty!
Becky I am very excited about the roundup. Just wish I had rooted more stuff, but got so busy with the shop and all, I am just bringing mainly cuttings and seeds. It is gonna be fun! Gonna stop at Joyces house and drop off some brugs for her. Bonnie you have anything for Joyce you want me to take to her? I could always stop after the roundup.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Glad Donna is feeling better!
Everyone's plants look beautiful! Will mine ever bloom? I'm not going to cut them back. I'll just walk around them this winter!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL Audrey that is what I am going to do. Have some plans to put the tall ones in the dining room!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I have to put mine in the living room, my "dining room consists of a table, desk and chairs, and my desk is huge! No room for brugs! I'll put a grow light on the wall above them, maybe they'll be OK!!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Audrey....I keep mine inside and usually they lose their leaves...(from the wood heat I guess)
But they always get some back and take off in the spring....This I think will be my 4th winter with them...

Peg my Versi Solmon grows like that it's never gotten more then 2' tall...yet...

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning all! I just got back from the Re-Store....I got 4, 4ft. long with 4 bulbs each lights for $10.00 each! Don't know that I will use them all but at that price I wanted to have enough for future use. I am excited this morning, I will be receiving the 24 different cuttings from the Ebay auction I won, and I have my bucket all ready. That is so nice of cannagirl, wolfie, and all you others that are sharing cuttings. I decided not to ask since I got so many on Ebay. We'll play rooting together though!

Donna I hope you continue to get better, we miss you! Sandy that window is terrific! I'd love to have something like that...I'll bet ya'll have fun at the apple orchard, hope you have pictures to show us!

Becky, ewww, I did that last week too, fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 10:00, don't you just hate the way it makes you feel?

Linda Kay your Dats are gorgeous! Any way you might have a yellow to share with me at the RU? I've never seen one before. Love you all and hope you're having a great day! Karen

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

My first finished gnomie....I think I have 4 total, not too great so don't laugh. Gosh I didn't realize my eyesight was so bad! LOL, he has a cockeye....There was no paint at all on these gnomes, but no cracking either. The whole statues are the color of the gnomes skin.

Karen I think you did a wonderful job painting him!!! He looks awesome! Congrats on the Re-store finds! I love that place. I still have my eye on the large wooden shutters at the store here. Thought they would make an nice garden nook.

Hi hotties!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good Day you Hotties! First, Joeswife in Derby, KS!!! Welcome to the Hottie Thread, YAY another Kansan!!! Can you make the RU this Sat in Odessa, MO??? Me and Louise would love another hottie at the party!
Louise Louise Louise!! You are so sweet to ask and YES I have "mucho" for Joyce and wondered how I'd get it all to her, have to take out a loan for postage if I was to mail them!!! That would be just peachy keen if you could stop on your way home! (((((((((((((((((((Louise)))))))))))))))))))
Sandy, the orchard sound perfect for an outting, and I love your big window! If you and Audrey are hauling in BIG well established brugs with a big root ball, they would be okay left to go dormant... in a cool dark area, but they may die back completely and then start over from the roots in spring... If you want to keep them growing, spray with neem before bringing in and offer some Bayers insecticide, too.
Linda Kay, you are a whiz with those dats, my lil guys are trying to bloom, but the rains we've been getting are playing havoc with them... but I won't give up... one bloom and it kind of withered before all the "layers" could appear... I still enjoyed it and more buds so, still has my attention.
Becky, I hope that eye is better and you've sought professional help, if it isn't....we only have 2..... you know the story, you hard-working little hottie! OX
I'm sure Donna knows we're all "rooting" (pun INtended, lol) for her to be home and helping keep this thread going during the day while she rests and fully recovers... I told her we ALL missed her here. Karen, what a nice paint job on your gnomie, he's adorable and what a bargain on those lights! WALA- greenhouse! (I know you and DDworked hard on it, so maybe it's not so "WA-LA"..
Peg, Meg, Peggy, Peggins.... I have 2 pink Noids, grown from seed, we'll have to wait to see which one it is.... but that's beside the point... the one I call PP (pink, pendulous) is over 8 ft tall in a tub this year, and the other one, I so fondly refer to as Amanda's Pink Tree brug has grown to 12 ft or more in a tub......., WHAT have to done to the squatty thing?? ;) (Peg, it will be okay, I HAVE to grab a bite to eat, but I'm coming back, with some thoughts I have about it..)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Forgot, I've instagated new postivie formulations at work... I'm Hopeful!!! And Wolfie, ya never said, ARE you snipping that gorgeous Iochroma?? ;) Mike, nice to see you posting, too! Lovely color on that yellow pretty! Hi Clemie! Gotta eat!

Heber Springs, AR

mike, u have a very pretty angle there, i will try to find ur site to relieve u of a few seeds or a cutting or two.
TATERS, i believe that is a datura and not a brug. they r kin but not the same.

Heber Springs, AR

AuntB, as much as i care for u and the rest of the hotties, i WILL NOT clip my royal blue lochroma this year, but i might shar it next year.lol
now i suppose u noticed my morning glory bushes above. well........... i have decided to cut some of the stalks back. i understand u can root them like brugs. i will share them, first come first gets untill they r all gone. i am gonna limit each hottie to just two. all i ask is just the postage. dmail me and let me know who wants one, or, u can use my email addy. jimhnrd1@yahoo.com

Hello everyone...
I slept my life away this morning.. guess I needed the rest!!
wolfie.. ty for the offer of the brug cuttings.. I'll be sure to dmail you!!
Bonnie.. YAY to the job.. you go girl!!
Donna.. love that window.. have fun at the orchard.. they just don't have apple orchards around here..lol wish they did
Mike.. that's one gorgeous yellow brug!!
weese... I know the people at the RU will understand..lol it's called LIFE.. and yes it does get in our way a lot!! How's the business going BTW!!
Peg.. I have some too that seems like they are just sitting there.. I just figured it took some longer to grow big and tall than others..
Linda Kay.. wow.. that's another pretty dat!! I got a white dat from the RU in June, and it had 2 huge white flowers, and I think it's putting on a seed pod. Never had any before, so I am excited..lol
Karen.. you did a great job !! Hey no worries..lol.. eyes are the hardest to do!! Glad for you on the steals on the lights!!
joeswife.. sorry "some of us" had a wild hair, and resurrected all the hottie threads..lol "maybe " it won't happen again..LOL..
Audrey.. looks like I might have to do the same thing..lol put a light somewhere in this dark house..lol
Kim.. you have such gorgeous brugs.. I might hit you up too!!..lol

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow Wolfie you are such a sweet generous hottie!! I am sure one of these plantaholics will take you up on your many offers! And sorry the begging will continue lol. Don't think a one of us can resist the unusual plants. Becky how is the clean up going?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have a lot of seedpods on my double yellow datura, but don't know if they will be ready for the round up. If anyone wants some of the seeds, please send me a d-mail, so I can send them out when they are ready.
I will be so glad to share with anyone that wants them. And remember the anticipation of waiting for the blooms will be hard, because your always going to ask yourself, is this one going to be a double, or a triple, or even maybe a quad. Out of the almost 30 blooms I had, only 2 were double, and 2 were quads. All the rest were triples.
All so pretty.
Linda Kay

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Linda Kay, I have the tripple yellow and purple. They both started out being trippled but as time went by and more seedpods were bring formed on the plant, that is when I notice they changed to double. Strange right?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Wow, Linda, 30 dat blooms?? Great! I'm holdin off on anymore cuttings till I see what comes home with me from the RU...

Peggy, through comparing some old pics of leaves, I've determined the pink noid I sent is the one I named Amanda's Pink Tree Brug, WHEN it does bloom I can be sure... I think it is probably conscentrating on growing roots, to sustain itself for the coming winter... The only brug I ever put in the ground here, was the stump/rootball from Amanda's tree that I wintered over inside. I had removed a round pre-form pond, so I had a perfect hole already there... in spring, I sunk the stump and roots in the hole. It grew tall and bloomed that summer, I think because it had a matured rootball. (see pic)

Hi to Amanda if you're out there lurking! ;)

I hope Cannagirl joins the hottie thread today, anyone can join us, we welcome newbies/midlands and experts... our only rule is you can't use the word "h-o-u-s-e-w-o-r-k"... I often think, since we tend to talk about so many other subjects (besides brugmansia & datura) we maybe will be asked to move our hottie thread to another more generalized forum. But until one of us gets a request from Dave or one of his administrators, I guess we're all o-tay to carry on.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Wolfie, I just asked again about the iochroma, to razz ya, wouldn't want a razz to go unnoticed ... I don't blame you for not cutting on it, it IS a special plant and I can't wait to see you post bloom pics! Kim, I'm sending you a Peach versi, whether you answer my d-mail or not... you NEED an orangy colored one.. lol

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

AuntB, I tremble to question your authority, but huh?? That one has been growing since before June when you sent it to me already potted. It has put up a stalk from the roots, not just side branches. I was scared that the "dragon" hosta in front of it would get too big for it, now it's taking over the hosta. News at 11, NOID Conquers Dragon. :) It's just been a strange grower for me compared to the others. It would be neat if it would keep spreading like that and totally fill in that area, after I move the hosta. I just did not think a brug would spread. The more I learn, the less I know. Peg

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Peg sooo glad to see you ! Been worrying about you!! Think about it.... not only has the brug gone through transplant shock.. it;'s sending up another shoot as well as making roots. Then you transplanted again into the ground. I think she looks mah va lous!! You are doing everything right!!
Bonnie.. you are just too danged sweet!! You are the Momma of our thread, and trying to keep us all with new brugs to further our addiction! I don't think Dave would have a problem with us talking other flowers on here.. we do like them all.. right??lol
OK.. I am finally really getting up and going to see Momma... I took a look see at my plants and they are crying for water.. I watered some but have to get back at it when I get home.. You hotties behave yourself while I am gone... LOL

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Mike. oh my! I said I wouldn't, said I shouldn't, but I looked at your trade list. Tropical Sunset is beautiful.... You have a lot offered. Let me get back with you on a trade, okay. Peg

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Peggy, you don't need to tremble and you're welcome to question me anytime... but I've said before and I'll say again, I ain't no authority, just know what I've learned on DG and from personal experience and I'm learning lots more right here on the hottie thread.. I just want you to be happy with that brug, she looks so healthy, she's just ornry. I wonder if it doesn't get enough direct sun to grow up, instead of out and about? Loved the news flash! lol Now look what you've gone and done..... I'm ever so curious about Mike's trade list.... it really isn't the plant trading forum I've banned myself from.... I'll just take a peek, not going to strike up a trade or nothin....... brb

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

P.S. "Momma of our thread" Peg, so sweet, I'll accept that... but authority, might be stretchin' it...

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Just got my babies in their bucket, I also received some cuttings of the Super Kong I forgot I bought. Here they are bubbling away! I put a splash of SuperThrive Vitamins and Root Stimulator in the water along with a little peroxide...About how long until I start seeing little roots?

Congrats Karen! I thought you would ask, how much longer till they bloom? lol you will start seeing white nubbies in a few days and then start looking for roots.. Nice set up, there, Karen... what is the wire thing holding them up?? Toto's basket from Dorothy's bicycle?? lol Seriously, what did you use?

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh my gosh Bonnie!!! I went outside to check on my budding brugs after the storm. Big buds ok, coz I brought that one in. I have a NOID sent to me by Robynznest that is got a tiny little Y and it has a inch long bud on it. Bigger than the Y!!! I also was checking my seedlings (can hardly call them that since some are 6ft tall) and one of my seedlings has a Y too!!!! I feel like a proud mommy! My baby is growing up...sniff...sniff...

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Bonnie I couldn't get the cuttings to stand up, the bucket was slippery and they were floating everywhere sideways...So I got in the cabinet and found a wire mesh collapsible basket I use for blanching tomatoes when I can. I laid it at the bottom of the bucket on top of the bubblestones...The mesh gives the cuttings excellent perches so that they will stand up right.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Karen you are a genius that is awesome! Oh and I heard on my MRI. They said I have bulding discs in my neck and are going to try meds and PT. No sugery right now.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey Hotties!! bubbling cuttings.buds and Y's good times good times!!! congrats girls : ) AuntB I did not answer cause I was a thinking ; }
sides Joyce gave me a Versi Peach cutting hehe!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

this is a message from your sponsor. Bonnie, also lovingly known as AuntB is lost over in Mike's trade list. We will hear from her as soon as she gets through wiping off her computer from drooling. Now, back to our story.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

YAY! Louise, No surgery! buldging discs don't sound very comfortable... Karen, you are brilliant... I've seen a thread somewhere from a few years ago about a lady that set them up in a retangular storage tub, she used something similiar... I'll try to find it... some people use clean 12 -16 oz plastic soda bottles with holes cut to allow water movement and the bottle part contains most of the roots so they don't get tangled with each other... I'll see what I can find and get back with a link...

Chesapeake Beach, MD

Louise, sorry about the bulging neck discs. I have been troubled by those in the past. They gave me muscles relaxers for the neck spasms and what a difference that made and lots of heating pad use. Try not to pick up heavy things (this includes brugs!!!!!!, purses, grandchildren.....) this just irritates the problem. I also started using the my husband's inverter machine.

Sounds weird to hang upside down but it really helps - takes the pressure off the spine just like traction but your body provides the weight. Now when I start getting the shoulder neck pain going, I request the muscle relaxers and start using the heating pad, hand upside down and I shorten my period of discomfort significantly.
