Went for a walk, it was actually very warm in the sun.
Todays Weather in Your Garden - 30
Those insects are the color of milkweed beetles, but my Audubon guide only showed 2--the Small & the Red--but those were neither. Thought I had an insect guide, but I probably left it for the teacher who took my place--same with my tree book. Today was a top tenner---72, sunny, breezy. It can stay like this right through April!
Artistic photos, Victor! Those are very cool-looking bugs! I like the orange guy with the little black buttons on his vest.
Thanks. I guess I'll ask on the Bug ID forum.
Where did you find them? It seems odd to see so many together.
On a weed seed head.
Halloween bugs
Someone on the Photos thread said that! My reply was that they did taste like candy corn.
crunchy?
EWWWW again!!!
Taste like chicken...
They are Milkweed bugs.
Some weeding done in the afternoon. Warm enough tomorrow so I had better cut back the siberian foliage while it is comfortable..
They look more orange than the red milkweed bugs I saw all summer while looking for Monarch cats and eggs. I never would have guessed.

65 and just gorgeous here for outdoor work. We have been very productive here today. The garden is tilled for next spring, the grapes have been harvested for making our jelly, Cuppatea is all closed up, my outdoor kitchen sink is covered, the well-head at the garden is all locked up, the gas has been run out of the tiller and mowers, Lydia the tractor has been put to bed for winter, and we have tacked aluminum screen on the bottom of an antique dresser where I store my linens. When DH opened a drawer to look for something, there were 8 small mice having a destruction party in 2 of the drawers. We had to move the dresser outside and then evacuate the troops in order to try to screen off the underside of the dresser where they have a doorman welcome them inside. My linens were all in heavy plastic bags inside, but they still nibbled their way into some of the bags. As you can guess, my next chore is to wash and iron all the table linens......arrrggghhhh....hadn't planned on adding that to the list. Oh, I forgot....the garage shed roof was de-mossed today too. At the moment it is a golden day outside.
Getting close to following the birds south, Louise?
So do I! We're celebrating my mom's birthday this weekend. Have fun and please say hi for me. Have a safe trip to Fl.
Thank you, and please wish your Mom a very happy birthday and tell her how much we love her son here in the NE!!! That's the best gift any Mom can receive!! LOL We will miss you and all the others who can't make it this time.
Loiuse as you're passing thru Jersey can you stop and till up my garden?
Gorgeous day, 74 high- low of 48
Louise, Jen's place will come first, then you can stop here second. You'll need a place to stretch your legs anyway. tee-hee.
Thanks Louise - I will!
Oh, you betcha, Jen and Jan!! LOL You could see in the photo just how much tilling I do here!!! I do the planting, fertilizing, weeding and harvesting for the most part.
Best wishes for the happiest of birthdays for your mom, Victor. How young?
Well, Louise, while you are weeding etc. your DH could do the tilling. Sounds like a plan to me. Anybody else have some work that needs doing on their way to Fla.? We just don't want you to get out of practice. After all we are enablers here on DG. Seriously, have a great trip.
Thanks, Jan. She's 71.
