magic pink and cherry cream from the new guinea impatiens , are they good indoor plants brought in from the cottage cold weather?
And what special care needed to keep these plants indoors over the winter alive long enough to flurish again in spring 2009.

are annuals such as supersonic MAGIC PINK AND CHERRY CREAM
I keep mine in an unheated room for the winter. Unless it's way too big to bring inside as it is, don't cut it back. Otherwise, cut it back as little as possible. I'm not sure what zone you're in, but here in 5b I stop feeding after Sept. 15th. Once inside, I give the plant a spot near the window (mine faces north) and keep the soil barely moist. It feels dry to the touch, but 2 inches down there is a bit of moisture. By the end of winter the plant has lost most of its leaves and looks dead. The stems shrivel some and you'd think there's no life left in it. Around the 2nd week of April I bring it out, cut it back to about 5 inches and begin to water and feed it. In very little time, it's putting out leaves and in about 6 weeks I get my first flowers. I also root some of the cuttings that I take from mid summer in case I lose the plant completely. Those take a little longer to flower than the plant itself, though not by much. It's kind of alot of work and every year I say I'm not going to mess with it, but when the first frost warnings come, I weaken and pull it in. I can't bear to think of a plant out there in the cold when it did such a great job of providing me with beautiful blooms all summer long!
