I've just tried preserving flowers with silica gel. Most did well; but the one I wanted most to preserve, beautyberry, did not look as I thought it should. Does anyone have ideas? Is glycerine an option for preservation? If so, how do you use it.
preserving flowers
I am no expert, but, have you tried drying the branches in an oven on low heat? The berries will shrink. I have heard that you can spray branches with some kind of 'preservative' to keep them from falling off.
This is not something I normally deal with.
Sawpalm, I only dry flowers by hanging them up in small bunches in a dry area, so cant really help you more, but friends who are right into this type of indoor flower arranging tell me that different flowers need different treatments depending on the type of flower, the stems and foliage. If it helps at all, I am sure you will get books on this very subject from your library or book store, but have a good read first as they are not cheep so you can make sure you get reading material that is really informative for your needs.
Is there not a forum here on Dave's for flower drying/arrangements etc. good luck. WeeNel.
